Real Elopement; Amber and Dan Last week, our elopement photographer, Clare Kinchin, wrote a blog post about our very own real elopement couple, Amber and Dan, which you can read here. This inspired me to tie-in with Clare’s post and give a 3-part breakdown of Amber and Dan’s real elopement wedding… The outfits… I love a wedding dress (have you guessed that yet?) and I especially love a bespoke handmade one. Amber made her wedding dress (yes, really!) and this fantastic two-piece wonder was the result. And to accessorise, Amber had some super cute unicorn shoes and a sparkly silver starry headpiece… Gorgeous! And it wasn’t just Amber who was sporting the silver sparkles at this real elopement… Her daughter wore the daintiest little silver shoes and a sparkly headband to match. Plus super fabulous silver sparkly tights! (Are you starting to notice a theme here…?). And I loved her ivory dress with the super snug fluffy cardigan! So cute! Dan avoided the silver sparkles and … Continue reading
Another happy couple. That’s our job done then. Zoe & Ben got married here at the venue just 4 days ago and already I’ve had a lovely review in from them and a sneak peek at some gorgeous photos from their photographer Lucy Turnbull. Zoe & Ben’s wedding planning wasn’t entirely smooth sailing. They had booked a florist but a couple of months before their wedding they felt they weren’t getting the support they needed from their supplier so they asked if I could help with another recommendation. Fortunately Amanda Randell our exclusive elopement florist was available on their date and came to the rescue. Within a couple of weeks, Amanda had put together a plan based on them wanting a wow factor in the marquee, jungly foliage and bright colours of orange and purple. Crisis over. Until the next one… Zoe and Ben had booked their wedding photographer in good time. Then 6 weeks before … Continue reading
elopement wedding breakdown; why elope? So we’ve covered the elopement wedding styling, ideas and inspiration, the elopement wedding outfits, and the elopement wedding cake, but we’ve not actually covered why you might want to elope. To keep things simple, I’ve broken it down into 4 simple reasons. Undecided about whether you want to elope or not? Well, you’re in the right place! Counting those pennies Justifying spending huge amounts of money on a wedding can be difficult, am I right? There’s always something else the money could go towards. Would you rather buy that perfect house, or have a big elaborate wedding? It’s kind of a no-brainer for most. But instead of just not getting married, you could have an elopement wedding! And any money you do spend on your intimate elopement wedding you can spend on the things you really want to spend it on, like shoes! perhaps your elopement wedding dress…? Or maybe just the food and drink?! One groom once said to … Continue reading
It seems soooo long since the lovely S and I were lying under a palm tree musing about the idea that eventually became our new pop up lounges. It has seemed AGES since we first came up with the idea on holiday in February but it’s actually only just over 4 months from the germ of an idea to getting the finished article photographed. The lounges have actually been used by several couples already this year but I’m still waiting on their official photos (patience not being a particular virtue of mine when it comes to waiting on photos). Clare our lovely elopement photographer popped over one evening last week and took the pics and yesterday they arrived in my in-box – hoorah! First there’s the whisky & cigar bar which comes with glasses and yep, whisky and cigars (does what it says on the tin). With art deco inspired furniture including potted palms this pop up … Continue reading

Hannah & Kevin’s botanical luxe real wedding feature is in the brand new edition of Wed Magazine out now. Hannah & Kevin wanted to find a venue “where we could create our own ‘luxury garden party’ but in the unpredictable Devon weather!” Luckily they found us! Hannah says, “We simply fell in love with Ever After. The venue ticked all our boxes so we booked straight away!” Here is the 3 page spread in Wed Magazine. Hannah and Kevin had very clear ideas about what they wanted which is summed up by Hannah as “organic botanical luxe” and they were super handy in creating personal and unique touches for their wedding with their own rustic wedding arch made by Kevin and great signage by Hannah including their wooden order of the day signs and ‘vows here, love everywhere’ signposts made from white hand painted timber with gold calligraphy. They made another great choice in their florist, bringing Dartmoor … Continue reading
elopement wedding cake inspiration; little & delicious Wedding cakes are a big focus for any wedding, and there’s no reason for you to miss out on that if you’re having an elopement wedding! Just because it’s small, it doesn’t make it any less important (trust me on this one, I’m 5ft3…). Where to start…? Luckily, our elopement wedding chef, Harrie, has got you covered (and your cake!). Harrie is responsible for all of our elopement wedding cakes and she is fab. Working together with our elopement florist, Amanda, she creates beautiful miniature masterpieces in cake form which are in-keeping with your overall elopement wedding style. the naked cake The oh-so popular wedding cake trend has been shrunk into an elopement wedding cake trend and they are so cute! map of ever after grounds People seem to love our lil directions map on the ‘Get in Touch’ page of the website. We can be tricky to find even with a sat nav so the map is really helpful for finding us. Our couples are welcome to use the map in their wedding invitations or on their wedding websites for their guests. If you want to download the directions map, click here. I’ve had a few requests for a map of the whole venue so I’ve now had a map of Ever After grounds drawn for us by the same person who drew the directions map. So here it is! Our couples are welcome to use this map for their guests, we can email the file to any printers or web managers. From entering the venue at the oak gates, visitors can turn right straight into the guest car park at the back of the venue. There’s a … Continue reading
Elopement outfits – dress to express as well as impress Elopement outfit… Where to start? The big question for any kind of event/occasion/gathering of people is ‘what should I wear?’ and that’s no exception for weddings, not even elopement weddings! For a big-120-guest-summer-wedding it’s a lot easier for you to pick your dress, am I right? It’s pretty standard, big white wedding = big white wedding dress. So where does that leave you for your Elopement wedding outfit? A non-traditional wedding surely means non-traditional attire? Wrong. The thing I love about elopement weddings is the freedom they give you! Because elopement weddings are small, intimate, personal, and (above all) a brand new concept, there is no dress code or accepted attire, and it is great. I love wedding dresses. I love the way they reflect the personality of the bride (when done right, of course). What is so great about picking your elopement outfit is that you’ve got even more freedom to express yourself and … Continue reading
I’ve posted this romantic Baxter & Ted wedding film on the blog before but Johanna & Andy’s first wedding anniversary this month is an excuse to watch this cute mini film again. I can’t believe it’s been a year already since Johanna & Andy’s June wedding. Happy 1st Wedding Anniversary guys! Johanna & Andy’s gorgeous wedding film by Baxter & Ted is completely romantic! And even more romantic is that Andy booked Baxter & Ted as his surprise wedding present to the lovely Johanna – she was sooo thrilled! From their time alone in the gardens to the bridesmaids’ frolics in the honeymoon cottage plus the smallest details of Johanna’s fab dress and beautiful bouquet, so many special elements have been beautifully captured as a life long reminder of their wonderful wedding day. I can see Johanna & Andy snuggled up on the sofa on a cold winter’s night watching this lil film and re-living their super … Continue reading
Elopement wedding ideas Part 3; walking in a winter wonderland I don’t know what it is, but there is something particularly romantic about a winter wedding, wouldn’t you agree? Add that to the already existing romance of our elopement weddings and, voila, you’ve got yourself a wedding more (can you guess?) yep, romantic than when Harry met Sally… Plus, what a great theme! As we are all about the elopement weddings ideas, I just couldn’t resist showcasing this fab winter wedding! And before you say ‘but it’s summer’, I know, and it seems a tad strange writing about frosty mornings when the sun is blazing outside (okay, not blazing, but let’s at least pretend Britain knows how to summer…) but, there is still time to book a winter wedding for the end of 2017, so get your creative juices flowing and be inspired by Kay and Andrew’s wintery style. Kay wore this fabulous tea-length dress with frosted lace, adding to their December style… What a … Continue reading
Precious wedding moments. I love them! I think I get just as excited as our wedding couples when the photos first come through after the wedding. I’ve got the wedding photos from previous weddings as a screen saver for my computer. When I’m sat at my desk the photos swim past as a great reminder of the lovely weddings we’ve had here. This morning the photos from Philippa and John’s wedding were floating past and were a perfect reminder of why a great wedding photographer is so important. I’ve picked some photos from what will actually be only a few minutes from the whole wedding day but they’re some of my favourites from this wedding. The photos of John at the church waiting for the wedding party, first his daughters as flower girl and bridesmaid and finally his bride, Philippa. Precious wedding moments indeed. This is John waiting for the bridal party to arrive – can … Continue reading
Elopement wedding ideas Part 2; vintage meets intimate at a gorgeous afternoon tea Vintage? Tick! This week’s focus is entirely vintage, and thanks to Marianne and Rob, we’ve got some fab inspirational photos for you. Before we get started, here’s something to remember… There is (unfortunately) always a time and place for compromise, but your Elopement Wedding at Ever After is definitely not one of those times or places, trust me (unless you’re the groom, in which case there will inevitably be some compromising for you…sorry!). Who doesn’t love lace? Marianne had the vintage lace sorted with her co-ordinating shoes and dress. (Couldn’t resist an image of Marianne showcasing her elegant style!) And thanks to Amanda Randell, our elopement wedding florist, Marianne’s natural bouquet emphasised the theme with the neutral colours and a mix of different foliage. Plus, it looked great on the wedding breakfast table atop the silver-grey tablecloths and white napkins… What would your elopement wedding bouquet look like? Now for … Continue reading
Elopement wedding ideas Part 1; Sophie, Pepe and the paper cranes There is something extraordinarily magical about an intimate elopement wedding, and they are becoming increasingly popular. If you think you can’t have all the finishing touches as with a traditional larger wedding; you couldn’t be more wrong. Here at Ever After, our elopement weddings are different and unique to every couple who bring their own individual style. What would yours be? Follow our 3-part blog post series for elopement wedding ideas and inspiration, aiming to inspire you for your own wedding and prove that less guest numbers doesn’t have to mean less style! Sophie and Pepe decorated their ceremony barn and reception space with these gorgeously colourful paper cranes all of which Sophie (and a few handy friends!) painstakingly hand-made… From their chosen flower colours of blue and yellow, we picked out our powder blue napkins to compliment the buttercream tablecloths… Not forgetting more of the all-important … Continue reading
As I sent the skinny to all our booked couples yesterday on our new pop up lounges, I can give the lounges a big shout out here. The lovely S and I lay under a palm tree in February, we were musing about what we could bring our couples that would get them leaping out their chairs with excitement. After a while we suddenly came up with the idea of pop up lounges. Of course! They’re a great add on that you can choose if you want to or not if you don’t. They’re a fab way to surprise your guests when they’ve already wined and dined in style throughout your day. Soooo, there are two different lounges, you can hire them together or separately. The whiskey & cigar lounge comes with all the furnishings to create an old style club feel. So a vintage leather chesterfield, leather and aluminium club chairs, persian rug, art deco drinks … Continue reading
The new 2017 summer wedding season is nearly here! How did that happen..?! It seems like just the other week we had our last summer wedding of 2016 and were closing down for the winter. And we’re about to start all over again! The marquee goes up tomorrow, the carpet fitters are coming on Tuesday to fit the brand new marquee carpet, the lighting people are coming on Tuesday to instal the fairy light canopy and we’ve got a host of new offerings here at the venue for our 2017 couples. We’ve got the new ice cream trike… complete with our own livery which is available to hire for your guests. Being a trike we can easily wheel it inside if the weather turns wet. We also have our new sweet trolley which the lovely S has spent hours renovating and transforming: This is also available for couples to hire. It has handy blackboards on the … Continue reading
We’re in Wed Devon Magazine this month with a real wedding from last year. Cherie and David got married here at Ever After last May. It rained – a LOT! They had planned to get married on the river walk but the weather put paid to that so they had their wedding ceremony in the wedding barn. It’s always good to have a solid Plan B when it comes to the weather… As is usually the case here the rain cleared up later in the day and Cherie and David were able to get some outdoor pics with their photographer Andy Gaines. You can more of Cherie and David’s wedding over on their real weddings page here on the website.

The ever fab Clare Kinchin is our real elopement wedding photographer. Clare is super fast at getting the edited photos back to us! The final edit from last Thursday’s real elopement wedding popped into my inbox just yesterday. I love seeing all the moments from the day captured in these shots – and this one has all the feels! Luci and Neil had their two spaniels as bridesmaids on the day. Complete with flowers on their collars and bridal leads – adorable! We’ve had quite a few requests for dogs at weddings recently and yes, well behaved dogs are always welcome here. Chip (our youngest border terrier) welcomes all dogs at all times! But we have our venue to think of so no dogs in ponds and no muddy paws in the honeymoon cottage please! Luci had the cutest denim jacket with pink sequin heart with ‘married’ on the back. You NEED to see that over … Continue reading
We’re thrilled to see another Ever After real wedding published this week. The fab wedding blog Whimsical Wonderland Weddings features Carole & Craig’s gorgeous woodland wedding. Carole & Craig chose the wife and husband team of Anna & Mike from Luna Wedding Photography who always take such amazing photos of weddings here. Click on the photo below to see the full feature: Here’s what bride Carole had to say about choosing Ever After as the wedding venue for their special day. “THE VENUE | As soon as we came across Ever After, just outside of Tavistock, we knew this was the one! We were so certain that we booked it even before visiting. As soon as we got a chance to head across from London to check it out, our initial thoughts were confirmed, it was even more beautiful in real life. It’s the perfect spot for an intimate wedding surrounded by woodland, a quaint little river and … Continue reading

Last week we had Amber & Dan from Middlesex and this week it was Kelly & Dan from Sheffield (different Dan obvs!) which have been added today to our real elopements page here on the website. You can see Amber & Dan’s real elopement photos here. Sadly I missed the wedding as I was away on holiday but the “A” team were here in my absence. Check out more of Amber’s two piece wedding outfit including this gorgeous grey skirt. Oh and golden dinosaurs on a wedding cake (you know you want to see that!) Kelly and Dan were one of our real elopements last week. They had a romantic, intimate wedding with just the two of them. The photographer Clare and I act as witnesses when there are just two people at the wedding – we … Continue reading
Jennifer and Chris had their wedding here at Ever After last September. The lovely Nikos Fragoulis filmed the wedding and yesterday he sent me this cute wedding film snippet from the footage. You can see more from Jennifer and Chris’s wedding here on their real wedding page. I’ll be back with an extended version of the wedding film from Nikos. For more information on how to have your own English garden wedding here at Ever After or a recommended supplier for your own wedding film, drop me a line at email@example.com

We’re moving into June for our spotlight this week, a time in the garden where you seem to have the best of both worlds with the spring rhododendrons still in full bloom but also the start of the roses and a real sense of summer on its way. Johanna and Andy lived in Hull at the time of their booking and Tavistock definitely took on a Yorkshire flavour for the weekend of their wedding with their guests filling the local accommodation. The venue was booked 14 months before the wedding. After the booking came the lovely news that there would be an additional guest at the wedding, Johanna was pregnant and the baby would be 5 months old by the time of the wedding day. So as if Johanna didn’t have enough to do organising the wedding, she was also dealing with her pregnancy and a lively toddler, the gorgeously named Amber Lily who was going to be … Continue reading
We’ve got lots of fab B&B’s in Tavistock for your wedding guests to stay whilst they’re attending your wedding at Ever After. We’re happy to provide a list of accommodation which we like and which is covered by our free pick up bus service. We’ve always got our ear to the ground for new accommodation and the other week I popped round to see Janet who with her husband Mark has opened a new B&B on our main pick up route in Tavistock. For those of you who know Tavistock, the new place is right next door to Tavistock House Hotel on the Plymouth Road. Jan has spent the last year completely renovating this Grade II listed Victoria townhouse, built originally by the Duke of Bedford. This elegant property now comprises 3 rooms, the penthouse room takes up the entire top floor of the building. With free standing bath, Molton Brown toiletries and towels from The White … Continue reading
We’re not a hotel so we don’t have a lot of guest accommodation on site here at the venue. We have our fabulous honeymoon cottage of course – there are not many venues where you get your own house, all to yourself and designed exclusively for newly weds. In case you need a reminder this is the cottage: We have a huge amount of accommodation nearby for your wedding guests to make their own choice. From top of the range country house hotels to boutique B&B’s through to self-catering and camping – there’s something nearby to suit all budgets. So when we found out that the lovely Bryony & Bertie who own Cider House B&B, (one of the only luxury B&B’s in the heart of a National Trust historic property) have added a couple of super-luxe shepherd’s huts to their accommodation, we wanted to know more. Bryony & Bertie believe in providing the best of the … Continue reading
Kate & John lived in Leicestershire but had close family ties in Devon. They were married in Tavistock church on a beautiful sunny day at the end of May 2016. Kate got ready for the wedding here at the honeymoon cottage together with her bridesmaids. Flowers were created with love by Kate’s Mum and her Mother in Law. Hair and make up for Kate were by Nicola Pettitt who came to the honeymoon cottage on the morning of the wedding. Kate had five bridesmaids, two of whom stayed over with Kate at the honeymoon cottage the night before, the others joined the next morning for hair, make up and all the general morning preparations. Our bus service brought all the wedding guests back to the venue from the church after their 3 pm church wedding service. Guests were brought to the wedding barn where a drinks station was set up with elderflower bubbly served in flutes dressed … Continue reading
Love My Dress feature real glamorous outdoor wedding at Ever After We’re thrilled to be featured on the fab wedding blog Love My Dress today. Read all about Georgia & Lee’s gorgeous day in the Love My Dress feature. If French bulldogs wearing a bow tie made from fabric from the bride’s gown, then this is a wedding for you. Plus you’ll get to see more of this Ann Campbell fab frock… Here’s Georgia on why she chose us for their wedding venue: “You might ask why we made everyone travel all the way down to Devon (five hours for most of our guests), with no family anywhere near there and when we had never been before, but I found Ever After in Dartmoor through Pinterest and nothing else measured up. I fell in love with the overall feel of the venue, which came with a lot of the details already; trinket candles, jam jar vases, blankets to keep guests warm by … Continue reading
Kay & Andrew had their winter elopement wedding here last month in December. Amanda Randell created a bouquet to Kay’s specification with accents of red, purple and blue and a request for definitely no roses! Kay wore a tea length nude/blush dress accessorised with dark blue shoes which Kay had decorated with red flowers. The red was also picked up by Amanda in the bouquet ribbon. Groom Andrew was caught by Clare pacing up and down as he waited nervously for his bride. The couple then had a sweet first look on the steps of the honeymoon cottage before walking in together for their wedding ceremony in front of their 8 guests. Guests had been treated on arrival to warmed mulled wine in the wedding barn before they strolled down to the terrace for an intimate wedding ceremony in front of the fire. After champagne and canapes Kay & Andrew had laid on a gin bar, bottled … Continue reading
Continuing our look at the most talked-about 2017 wedding trends (for part 1 click here and for part 2 click here). This week we thought we’d highlight one of the other trend forecast by our friends over at Coco Wedding Venues. Minimalist Luxe. Katrina Otter describes this on the Coco Wedding trend report as “stripping things back without scrimping on luxury or the overall style and vibe.” Yep, love that. Here we often add to the natural elements and surroundings with metallic vases and candle holders to keep things simple but luxurious as in this cake table display where the simplicity of the cake design is complemented by the sparkling touches of the tea lights and flowers. This cheese cake arrangement on one of our log slices uses an abundance of fruit with oversized lanterns and a bridesmaid’s bouquet, all against a foliage backdrop to create a feeling of luxe with simplicity. And this semi-naked cake, simply decorated … Continue reading
As we look forward to another fabulous summer wedding season here at Ever After in 2017, I’m looking back at a selection of our 2016 weddings, some planning highlights and some of the suppliers involved. It’s also a chance to share some photos from each of the weddings which haven’t been seen before. The first wedding of the 2016 summer season was Philippa and John who got married on the first Saturday in May. The day was planned around a church wedding, Philippa got ready in the honeymoon cottage with her two daughters as flower girls. Colours for the day were white, blush pink and gold with the men dressed in tweed and decor items of rustic accents and natural colours. Jodie of The Hair Lounge Tavistock and Jess of No 5 Aesthetics came to the venue to help Philippa get ready for her church wedding. The rain held off for Philippa leaving from the venue for the … Continue reading
…yep, according to the lovely Emma at Coco Wedding Venues, elopements are a continuing trend. We can vouch for that here at Ever After, since we launched our elopements last year we have been thrilled with the enthusiasm of couples for our bespoke luxury elopement package. Emma said on her blog this week: “In 2016 I predicted the elopement would be a serious option for couples. Well I can only see the intimate wedding getting bigger for 2017. The trend for micro nuptials with maximum style is HOT and the expert in this area is Ever After in Devon. They’ve put together everything a couple might need for a luxury micro wedding including the venue, the bouquet, the photographer, the champagne and canapés and the wedding breakfast prepared by a private chef, plus overnight accommodation in their 18th Century honeymoon cottage!” Thanks for the shout out Emma! Ours is not a ‘package’ with a standard bouquet and cake … Continue reading
Last week we started our look at the most talked-about 2017 wedding trends (for part 1 click here). This week we thought we’d highlight a few of the other trends forecast by our friends over at Coco Wedding Venues. Starting with shades of nude. We saw some of these here last year in bridal gowns, bridesmaids dresses, flowers, cakes and table settings. Carrying over a colour into all aspects of the wedding style creates a coherent look that seems effortless (but isn’t!). These nude bridesmaids’ gown from Georgia & Lee’s wedding make a big contribution to the colour. And don’t forget the groom and his guys, the pale grey groomsmen’s suits from Charlotte & Luke’s wedding make an impact too. Nudes and neutrals can be carried through from dress through to flowers and other accessories such as shoes and sandles. Mis-matched bridesmaids’ and flower girl dresses give you a wide choice of colours and textures and … Continue reading

We’re also thrilled to have one of our lovely weddings featured on their weddings inspiration page today. Charlotte and Luke’s wedding took place here last August and featured gorgeous flowers by Dartmoor Flowers, a fabulous beaded Jenny Packham dress, the bride and groom’s cute-as-a-button daughter as flower girl and some swoon-worthy photos in the woods. Click on the photo below to check out some of these not-seen-before pics on Wedding Planner: If you’d like a copy of our digital brochure just drop me an email at email@example.com with the date (or year) of your wedding and an estimate of your guest numbers and we can talk about your plans for your own wedding.
I’m just getting the last of the summer weddings up on the real weddings page of the website. Today’s is a goodie! It’s Lauren and Paul photographed by the lovely Clare Kinchin (who incidentally is also our exclusive elopement photographer so if you want to see even more of Clare’s work here, pop over to our real elopements page) Lauren and Paul live locally in Plymouth and wanted to reflect Paul’s Scottish heritage and his job as a submariner. Lauren had a dream dress in mind and together they made an uber stylish pair. You can see a gorgeous hand-picked selection of Lauren and Paul’s photos here on their real weddings page but I thought I would take the opportunity to share more of their photos with you as they’re so gorgeous and I know our readers love to see our real weddings photos. Clare always take fab getting ready photos, getting all the details of … Continue reading
I thought we’d take a look at some of the predicted 2017 wedding trends that are being talked about right now. I mentioned Coco Wedding Venues 2017 wedding trend report which you can see over on their website and we’re getting a lot of reports and predictions in our inbox now about what’s coming up. I look at the trends, of course I do, I’m in the wedding business. I’m also interested in trends and fashion generally, I like to keep up with new things. But with interior and fashion trends, if I don’t like the look of it or I don’t think it will suit me or my home, I pass over it, no biggie. It’s the same with wedding trends, there are some I just don’t get so I don’t adopt them. Last year a number of trends mentioned tropical colours and flowers, I didn’t see how that would fit with the venue and … Continue reading
I had a question in my inbox today from one of our 2017 brides asking about our wooden arches available for use in your wedding ceremony. As I was emailing the info over to Lisa I thought it would be a good topic for a blog post so here we are – thanks for the inspiration Lisa! We have a couple of wooden arches, made by previous couples and kindly donated to us for use by future couples getting married here at Ever After – our couples are super generous! The first one we have is a simple wooden arch which can be decorated with flowers and with or without fabric which we have here, the fabric was donated at the end of August by another couple (thanks Lowri and Geoff!). Alex and Danny decorated the arch with flowers and foliage by Amanda Randell: Johanna and Andy had a fuller half height floral arch on the same structure this … Continue reading
Sam Docker is one of the best wedding photographers around. We love his work so we’re especially thrilled to feature in his round up of his fave shots from 2016. He’s picked out these from Georgia and Lee’s gorgeous real wedding here back in August last year… This one of bride Georgia at the wedding barn. I know, proper hair envy right?! Then there’s this one of Georgia and Lee with their superstar French bulldog Louie with his bow tie made from a piece of Georgia’s dress fabric – so stylish, so French. Louie stole the show a number of times. Then there’s Lee during his groomsmen’s speech, the moment he realises his ‘friends’ have been in his house, filming without his knowledge… Georgia and Lee on the dance floor. Sam called this, ‘one of my favourite dance floors of 2016’ – oh yes… And finally this one, under the tree on the lawn with the festoon … Continue reading
We’re proud to feature on the directory of Coco Wedding Venues, the uber stylish wedding venue finder run by the lovely Emma, we’ve been listed with Coco since they first started 3 years ago and we’ve been featured a number of times, including just yesterday with our elopement weddings. You can read some of the pieces here and here. In this year’s annual wedding 2017 trend report featured on her blog, Emma talks about what you might be seeing for next year’s weddings. I am totally with Emma that the point of wedding trends is not to blindly follow fashion but of course weddings are influenced by fashions of the day. I think it’s part of the charm of wedding photos that when you look at most of them you can tell which decade it took place. A 1940’s wedding looks of its time as does one from the 1960’s or 70’s. So trends and fashions … Continue reading
We’re super thrilled that the lovely Emma over on Coco Wedding Venues is featuring Alice and Jonathan’s elopement wedding which took place here at Ever After a few weeks ago in October. Read more details over on Emma’s blog: Alice & Jonathan’s Elopement at Ever After If you’d like more details about our winter elopement weddings, drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org, I’d love to hear from you!
Some of you may already have seen some of our pics on Instagram from the elopement food photo shoot we did a few weeks ago with our private chef Harrie from Boo To A Goose. Guy Harrop (my go-to person for food shoots, he’s the best) came back to the venue this time for another first, shooting our elopement wedding menu. Harrie is our exclusive chef for our elopement weddings (more details here if you are interested in an elopement) and she has designed 3 menus just for us for autumn, winter and spring. In the pic above you can see a some of Harrie’s starters of (bottom left) seared scallops with pea puree and chorizo butter; (top right) seared prawn with shaved fennel salad, avocado cream, ruby grapefruit and sweet potato crisp while bottom right is artichoke and parmesan pannacotta, pickled girolles, brown sherry jelly and grain mustard – I mean YUM! Next up we have a selection of main … Continue reading
Yesterday I received the mini film which Ben from Foster Filming put together for Hannah & Kevin who got married here back in July 2016. Couples who book their wedding film with Ben get a longer version of the film, this is just a taster. Hannah & Kevin created and brought along all their own signage plus Kevin made the rustic arch you see in the wedding barn which was dressed with foliage and flowers for the ceremony backdrop. Kevin and Hannah very kindly donated the arch for use by others – we have such lovely wedding couples here! Hannah & Kevin had the most amazing foliage chandeliers in the wedding marquee which along with the foliage hoops, table centrepieces and fabulous bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets were all put together by Dartmoor Flowers. You’ll notice the foliage hoops behind the top table in the wedding marquee for the wedding breakfast. The Ever After team moved those down … Continue reading
Vicki & Jon were our last wedding of the season and what a great wedding to end a wonderful summer! Following a super emotional wedding ceremony in the barn, Vicki & Jon had a reception on the lawns and the rain held off until all the guests were dining in the wedding marquee. The biblical rain didn’t stop the boys heading to the riverwalk for a whiskey & cigar shot by the fire globe, albeit under brollies! Vicki has been kind enough to share her experience of the planning year, her memories of the day and she has some tips for couples planning their own wedding. So here is what she has to say… How did you find us? Jon and I had been searching for venues in our local area (Buckinghamshire) and didn’t find anything that jumped out at either of us! We weren’t being overly pro-active with the searching process, after visiting a few and feeling quite … Continue reading
I love this part of the year when I get to see so many photos of our real weddings from the season. I haven’t even had chance to create Vicki & Jon’s real wedding page yet so this is a sneek peak at the photos of this lovely wedding held here in September 2016. Take a look at photographer Lucy Turnbull’s blog with the full set of photos. Vicky and Jon – an Ever After wedding Vicki has sent me a great write up of her thoughts about venue booking which I’ll post next week so do come back for that including Vicki’s advice from the other side to couples who are planning their wedding.
Great post on the lovely Sam Docker’s blog yesterday. Click on the picture below for the full story and all the fab pics from Georgia and Lee’s gorgeous wedding here in August, including the following lovely review from Sam which we’re thrilled to receive: “The Ever After venue in Lower Grenofen really was a hidden gem, one of those where you question your sat nav, are you being led on a merry dance down a country lane with a dead end?! But fear not, at the end of that country lane was the most incredible setting for a gathering, there were no worries about disturbing the neighbours here, because there are none!! The grounds were stunning, the rooms next level, the space and flow of the day was perfect and the food was amazing, there can’t have been a single guest who was disappointed, it had it all. Georgia and Lee must still be beaming with their choice of venue and … Continue reading
…well it feels like that anyway! We’ve waited patiently for some of our wedding films to finish their final edit and now two have come along in a week! Last week I shared Johanna and Andy’s new film by Baxter and Ted. If you missed that, have a look at it here. This week it’s a film from our other go-to wedding film people, Cupcake Videos. Carole and Craig’s wedding took place here at Ever After in August this year. They had a beautiful day with family and friends and plenty of kilts! Highlights include Craig the groom playing the guitar and singing a song just for his bride in front of all their guests and the go-pro camera on the canapes board! Enjoy… I’ll be looking at some of the things to consider if you’re thinking of having a film of your wedding so do check back here to get all the gen…
I was talking to a wedding photographer recently and she was saying how important it is for a couple to make time for some couple portraits on their wedding day. It got me thinking… I hear from couples in the run up to their wedding day about how they don’t want to abandon their guests during the drinks reception by having couple photos. I thought the same myself when the lovely S and I got married here back in 2012. Trouble is, we don’t have any couple shots! And although I’m not a great one for having photos of myself around the house, it would be kinda nice to have some of the lovely S and I in our wedding finery. So much so that I’m thinking of an anniversary shoot for the two of us one day here at the venue, but I digress… Back to the subject in hand, ‘abandoning’ your guests for … Continue reading
Samantha and Dan got married here in September this year and had a beautiful wedding. Then a few weeks ago Sam got in touch with me to say there had been a disaster with their wedding photographs. Here’s the plea for information from bride Sam about her photos: “OUR WEDDING PHOTOS STOLEN IN BURGLARY IN BRISTOL- PLEASE HELP TO FIND THE HARD DRIVES! This is a message that is really close to our hearts so please share far and wide…Dan and I got married on 7th September 2016 and had an amazing photographer called Ben Selway at our special day. He captured over 1000 photos of us both. Ben was staying at his fathers house in Bristol at the end of September and the house was burgled. He had backed up our photos on 3 different hard drives (see pictures) as well as his Macbook. All of these were stolen including a number of other things. This means we … Continue reading
The lovely team of real life couple Caroline and Chris who are Baxter + Ted film makers were engaged by groom Andy as a wedding gift for his bride Johanna – I know, how romantic is that?! Take a few minutes to watch this 4.5 min film which beautifully captures the family wedding Johanna and Andy hosted here back in June this year. Johanna + Andy | Wedding Film in Devon from Baxter and Ted Films on Vimeo. And if you didn’t guess that bride Johanna gave birth to little Jack 6 months previously, you’re not alone! She does not look to me like a woman who got no sleep the night before the wedding due to a teething baby… Click here and here for more mini wedding films at Ever After by Baxter + Ted. Click here to go to Baxter + Ted’s website and ask them about filming your wedding here.
The lovely Jo of Enchanted Brides was Laura and Luke’s wedding photographer when they got married in a church service at nearby Buckland Monachorum at the weekend followed by a wedding reception here at Ever After. We’ve got an early sneek peak of some of Jo’s shots of the day – before Laura and Luke have even left on their honeymoon! Now that’s quick service for you… Laura’s gorgeous flowers, including church floral arrangements which were brought back to the venue for re-use (make those flowers work for their living!) and marquee decor were created by Deborah of Dartmoor Flowers and incorporated Laura’s wish for lush, wild, trailing arrangements of native summer flowers in nudes and pale blues with occasional pops of red which echoed the groom’s and groomsmen’s attire. The flowers looked amazing and the boys rocked those pale blue summer suits – there’ll definitely be more pics of those to follow. Guests enjoyed a sunny drinks … Continue reading
It’s four years today since the lovely S and I got married here at Lower Grenofen and started not only our lives together in marriage but also this fab new business in weddings together. I thought I’d share some of our photos of the day, some personal ones of our family and close friends which are so very special to us. Here’s my favourite photo of my Mum from the day. My Dad had died suddenly a few months before our wedding date and this was Mum’s first big occasion after his death. It was a day of very mixed emotions for us all, these are the real life stories behind the froth of a wedding day, they are the experiences which shape our lives and our connections with our loved ones, the things that stay with us for the rest of our lives. And here is another favourite of my Mum leaving the wedding barn after the … Continue reading
I love the weeks in the season when all the official wedding photos start rolling in, it’s a chance to re-live the wedding and see all those moments I missed in person – it’s one of my favourite bits of running this business! Johanna and Andy got married here in a mid-week wedding at the beginning of June. These shots of the moments leading up to the wedding ceremony in the barn are some of my favourites, Johanna coming out of the honeymoon cottage with her father before entering the barn, Andy looking nervous as he waits for his bride to arrive, Johanna’s billowing veil as she walks down the path, the look of love on Andy’s face as he looks at his bride – all perfectly captured by David of David Stubbs Photography. Johanna and Andy had a wooden arch as the ceremony back drop beautifully decorated by florist Deborah of Dartmoor Flowers with roses and peonies in peach, … Continue reading
The super nice team of Anna and Mike who are Luna Weddings photographed Beth & Luke’s midsummer night’s dream wedding here last July – actually a year ago this week (where did that time go?!). You can see more of Beth & Luke’s wedding photos here on our real weddings page. With dreamy flowers by Dartmoor Flowers, bridal plaited hair woven with flowers, photos on the river walk and a home made cake dripping with real roses, this was a quintessentially Devon garden wedding – just what Beth and Luke had talked about when they first came to see us. Anna and Mike have showcased the wedding on their blog so do click here to pop over and read a lovely write up of the venue (thanks guys!) and take a look at some unseen photos. If you’d like to ask about holding your wedding here at Ever After, drop me a line at email@example.com, I’d love to hear all about … Continue reading
Cady & Sam asked for our recommendations for a photographer, florist and cake maker for their Devon wedding here at Ever After and they booked some of our fave wedding suppliers. We’ve known Emma of Freckle Photography since we first opened back in 2013 – we did our first ever photo shoot here with Emma and she is now so super popular for weddings, if you want to book Emma, you’d better get in early! Deborah of Dartmoor Flowers has a hand-picked, garden style that works beautifully with the venue as you can see from this gorgeous pic of Cady’s wedding bouquet with the most perfect peonies and heavenly scented roses. Jenny of Edible Essence is a cake supremo – her naked cake for Cady & Sam’s wedding was a wonder! Deborah provided the flowers for the cake and I dressed the cake table with silver grey linen, tea lights, lanterns and more flowers – the perfect backdrop for a … Continue reading

Our lovely winter elopement photographer Clare Kinchin has put a lot more of Marianne and Dan’s photos up on her website – yey! Email me at email@example.com about how to hold your winter elopement wedding here and have exclusive use of our beautiful woodland venue.
The photos are in from Vince of Devon based Yeti Photography of Phillipa and John’s wedding here in May. I’m hoping to persuade Phillipa to give us her thoughts on the wedding planning process and the big day itself but in the meantime I wanted to share some of the highlights from the photos. Phillipa and John got married in Lewdown church. Phillipa and her bridesmaids got ready in the honeymoon cottage on the morning of the wedding and were driven to the church from the venue. After the church service the guests gathered in the field for a clay pigeon shoot with picnic hampers which included game pie and other game related canapes. Because no alcohol is allowed when shooting guests were served ginger beer, cloudy lemonade and elderflower presse, perfectly fitting the English outdoor setting. The weather didn’t exactly co-operate during the shoot but that didn’t seem to dampen anyone’s spirits. Phillipa decorated bottles and … Continue reading
I got on a roll putting up the photos from the Magnolia Rouge shoot this morning so thought I would get on and do the winter elopement shoots we did here last year with our elopement photographer Clare Kinchin, our elopement florist Amanda Randell and our preferred elopement hair and make up duo, Jodie and Chloe from The Hair Lounge Tavistock and Jess from Visage Aesthetics. The lovely Kayleigh and Ben were our local, real life models who had got married in real life a few months earlier. They’re just so lovely together, it was like being at a real wedding! I wanted to do a shoot here in December because I wanted to give couples a realistic view of what the garden looks like here in the winter. There are no leaves on the trees and nothing is in flower but the venue still has its own natural beauty as you can see from the photos. We … Continue reading
I’ve added some unseen photos from the photo shoot we did here last year with the dream team of Theresa Furey, Amber Persia, Nicola Pettitt and model Claire Simpson. Click here to see the full gallery with credits. Click here to see the photo shoot as featured this week in Magnolia Rouge.
We made it! Our woodland shoot from last year shot with a fabulous team has made it onto the utterly gorgeous Magnolia Rouge blog. When I started out in the wedding business in 2014, it was one of my ambitions to be featured in Magnolia Rouge and last year I got together with the lovely Amber Persia, super talented florist and stylist and she brought on board fine art photographer Theresa Furey who shot the day on film. We were of course blessed with our gorgeous model (always helps!) Claire from Base Models who was such a trooper on the day as she stood in the freezing river and tried not to shiver! Claire was made even more beautiful by our gifted hair and make up artist Nicola Pettitt. Take a look at the full feature now on Magnolia Rouge in all its gorgeousness… I’ll be featuring some unseen shots here on the blog shortly and talking about … Continue reading
Lovely to see us featured on Dan Ward’s blog of his weddings and such kind words too from Dan about us: “I shot the most amazing wedding last year (still not used to saying that yet!) at Ever After a Dartmoor Wedding, which if you haven’t checked it out is an absolutely fab venue and one of my favourite weddings from last year.” It’s Jess and Chris’s wedding from June 2015 which Jess planned in just 3 months. Check out Dan’s blog post for more great photos of this wedding and to see more examples of his wedding photography work. We’re more than happy to recommend Dan for your wedding photographer so get in touch with him if you want to check his availability for your wedding and get in touch with me if you want more information about how to book your summer wedding here at firstname.lastname@example.org
Mari and Dan travelled all the way from Australia for their elopement wedding here in March 2016. They were travelling round Europe when Dan said, ‘hey why don’t we get married?’ – so they did! Mari wore a gorgeous pale grey chiffon and silver sequin dress with a cute white feather stole for warmth. She wanted a red and black wedding bouquet with matching buttonhole for Dan who looked splendid in his 3 piece suit hired locally in Tavistock. Mari wanted a 1940’s vintage curled style for her hair and a smoky eye for her make up. Chloe from The Hair Lounge Tavistock and Jess from Visage Aesthetic both came to the venue on the morning of the wedding to do Mari’s hair and make up. After the humanist wedding ceremony performed by Denise and Nicola of Cornish Celebrants, Mari and Dan took their glasses of champagne and had a photo session in the venue grounds and on … Continue reading
Last year we did a photo shoot in the woods with the lovely Amber Persia wedding florist and stylist supremo and the fine art photographer Theresa Furey. We created a romantic ethereal shoot with a woodland setting for the wedding breakfast and a bride wandering the woods before the wedding. The photo shoot has been accepted for future publication by Magnolia Rouge (be still my beating heart!) so I can’t show any of the shots that are appearing in the feature but I can share some of Theresa’s gorgeous pics of the woods. How lucky are we that this is right outside our back gate? These were shot at the beginning of June so the leaves on the trees weren’t fully out but the wild foxgloves and ferns were beginning to appear and the woodland had that ancient magical feel about it. Ok, you’ve twisted my arm, I’ll share a teeny selection from a bit of a … Continue reading

We’re thrilled to be in Bride’s Magazines supplement to the current edition of the magazine – the Top 100 venues list at home and abroad. We’re very happy to be mentioned alongside such a great selection of fabulous venues. And lovely words from the Bride’s editors about us, “It’s designed with plenty of glorious alfresco spaces, yet – if it does decide to pour – owner Nicola has cleverly created several super-chic indoor-outdoor structures (the glass-roofed terrace above is a marvel). The landscaped gardens and stone barns are atmospheric enough, but the real magic lies in the tiny details – edible flowers on the menu anyone?’ If you’re looking for a unique venue for an outdoor wedding – you’ve come to the right place! Email me for details about how to come and see for yourself firstname.lastname@example.org I’d love to hear from you!
Many (if not most) wedding photographers offer an e-shoot or engagement shoot ahead of your big day. Sometimes it’s offered as part of your photography package with them, sometimes it’s an added extra. These photos caught my eye this morning of one of our lovely couples who are getting married here later this year. They have hired Emma of Freckle Photography to capture their wedding day this summer here at Ever After. Cady & Sam came to the West Country last weekend and touched base with a number of suppliers for their wedding. They had a tasting for their menu at Dartmoor Inn and stayed overnight in their lovely rooms. They had a run through the timings for their day here at the venue and we sorted out lots of details including table linen, table layouts, reception drinks and a whole lot more! And then they went off to see Emma for this super gorgeous e-shoot. … Continue reading
