We’re thrilled to see another Ever After real wedding published this week. The fab wedding blog Whimsical Wonderland Weddings features Carole & Craig’s gorgeous woodland wedding. Carole & Craig chose the wife and husband team of Anna & Mike from Luna Wedding Photography who always take such amazing photos of weddings here. Click on the photo below to see the full feature: Here’s what bride Carole had to say about choosing Ever After as the wedding venue for their special day. “THE VENUE | As soon as we came across Ever After, just outside of Tavistock, we knew this was the one! We were so certain that we booked it even before visiting. As soon as we got a chance to head across from London to check it out, our initial thoughts were confirmed, it was even more beautiful in real life. It’s the perfect spot for an intimate wedding surrounded by woodland, a quaint little river and … Continue reading
Jennifer and Chris had their wedding here at Ever After last September. The lovely Nikos Fragoulis filmed the wedding and yesterday he sent me this cute wedding film snippet from the footage. Ah lovely memories of summer! Jennifer and Chris hired in these gorgeous vintage tea cups. Guests had afternoon tea on the lawn – a perfect English summer garden wedding. You can see more from Jennifer and Chris’s wedding here on their real wedding page. I’ll be back with an extended version of the wedding film from Nikos. For more information on how to have your own English garden wedding here at Ever After or a recommended supplier for your own wedding film, drop me a line at email@example.com
We’re thrilled to be featured on the fab wedding blog Love My Dress today. Anna Campbell Glamour For An Outdoor Country Wedding in Devon Read all about Georgia & Lee’s gorgeous day including why they picked a venue located far away from where they lived – thanks guys! If French bulldogs wearing a bow tie made from fabric from the bride’s gown, then this is a wedding for you. Plus you’ll get to see more of this Ann Campbell fab frock… We’ve got more photos from Georgia & Lee’s wedding here on their real weddings page. All photography: Samuel Docker
I’m just getting the last of the summer weddings up on the real weddings page of the website. Today’s is a goodie! It’s Lauren and Paul photographed by the lovely Clare Kinchin (who incidentally is also our exclusive elopement photographer so if you want to see even more of Clare’s work here, pop over to our real elopements page) Lauren and Paul live locally in Plymouth and wanted to reflect Paul’s Scottish heritage and his job as a submariner. Lauren had a dream dress in mind and together they made an uber stylish pair. You can see a gorgeous hand-picked selection of Lauren and Paul’s photos here on their real weddings page but I thought I would take the opportunity to share more of their photos with you as they’re so gorgeous and I know our readers love to see our real weddings photos. Clare always take fab getting ready photos, getting all the details of … Continue reading
Yesterday I received the mini film which Ben from Foster Filming put together for Hannah & Kevin who got married here back in July 2016. Couples who book their wedding film with Ben get a longer version of the film, this is just a taster. Hannah & Kevin created and brought along all their own signage plus Kevin made the rustic arch you see in the wedding barn which was dressed with foliage and flowers for the ceremony backdrop. Kevin and Hannah very kindly donated the arch for use by others – we have such lovely wedding couples here! Hannah & Kevin had the most amazing foliage chandeliers in the wedding marquee which along with the foliage hoops, table centrepieces and fabulous bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets were all put together by Dartmoor Flowers. You’ll notice the foliage hoops behind the top table in the wedding marquee for the wedding breakfast. The Ever After team moved those down … Continue reading
Vicki & Jon were our last wedding of the season and what a great wedding to end a wonderful summer! Following a super emotional wedding ceremony in the barn, Vicki & Jon had a reception on the lawns and the rain held off until all the guests were dining in the wedding marquee. The biblical rain didn’t stop the boys heading to the riverwalk for a whiskey & cigar shot by the fire globe, albeit under brollies! Vicki has been kind enough to share her experience of the planning year, her memories of the day and she has some tips for couples planning their own wedding. So here is what she has to say… How did you find us? Jon and I had been searching for venues in our local area (Buckinghamshire) and didn’t find anything that jumped out at either of us! We weren’t being overly pro-active with the searching process, after visiting a few and feeling quite … Continue reading
Great post on the lovely Sam Docker’s blog yesterday. Click on the picture below for the full story and all the fab pics from Georgia and Lee’s gorgeous wedding here in August, including the following lovely review from Sam which we’re thrilled to receive: “The Ever After venue in Lower Grenofen really was a hidden gem, one of those where you question your sat nav, are you being led on a merry dance down a country lane with a dead end?! But fear not, at the end of that country lane was the most incredible setting for a gathering, there were no worries about disturbing the neighbours here, because there are none!! The grounds were stunning, the rooms next level, the space and flow of the day was perfect and the food was amazing, there can’t have been a single guest who was disappointed, it had it all. Georgia and Lee must still be beaming with their choice of venue and … Continue reading
…well it feels like that anyway! We’ve waited patiently for some of our wedding films to finish their final edit and now two have come along in a week! Last week I shared Johanna and Andy’s new film by Baxter and Ted. If you missed that, have a look at it here. This week it’s a film from our other go-to wedding film people, Cupcake Videos. Carole and Craig’s wedding took place here at Ever After in August this year. They had a beautiful day with family and friends and plenty of kilts! Highlights include Craig the groom playing the guitar and singing a song just for his bride in front of all their guests and the go-pro camera on the canapes board! Enjoy… I’ll be looking at some of the things to consider if you’re thinking of having a film of your wedding so do check back here to get all the gen…
I was talking to a wedding photographer recently and she was saying how important it is for a couple to make time for some couple portraits on their wedding day. It got me thinking… I hear from couples in the run up to their wedding day about how they don’t want to abandon their guests during the drinks reception by having couple photos. I thought the same myself when the lovely S and I got married here back in 2012. Trouble is, we don’t have any couple shots! And although I’m not a great one for having photos of myself around the house, it would be kinda nice to have some of the lovely S and I in our wedding finery. So much so that I’m thinking of an anniversary shoot for the two of us one day here at the venue, but I digress… Back to the subject in hand, ‘abandoning’ your guests for … Continue reading
The lovely team of real life couple Caroline and Chris who are Baxter + Ted film makers were engaged by groom Andy as a wedding gift for his bride Johanna – I know, how romantic is that?! Take a few minutes to watch this 4.5 min film which beautifully captures the family wedding Johanna and Andy hosted here back in June this year. Johanna + Andy | Wedding Film in Devon from Baxter and Ted Films on Vimeo. And if you didn’t guess that bride Johanna gave birth to little Jack 6 months previously, you’re not alone! She does not look to me like a woman who got no sleep the night before the wedding due to a teething baby… Click here and here for more mini wedding films at Ever After by Baxter + Ted. Click here to go to Baxter + Ted’s website and ask them about filming your wedding here.

The lovely Jo of Enchanted Brides was Laura and Luke’s wedding photographer when they got married in a church service at nearby Buckland Monachorum at the weekend followed by a wedding reception here at Ever After. We’ve got an early sneek peak of some of Jo’s shots of the day – before Laura and Luke have even left on their honeymoon! Now that’s quick service for you… Laura’s gorgeous flowers, including church floral arrangements which were brought back to the venue for re-use (make those flowers work for their living!) and marquee decor were created by Deborah of Dartmoor Flowers and incorporated Laura’s wish for lush, wild, trailing arrangements of native summer flowers in nudes and pale blues with occasional pops of red which echoed the groom’s and groomsmen’s attire. The flowers looked amazing and the boys rocked those pale blue summer suits – there’ll definitely be more pics of those to follow. Guests enjoyed a sunny drinks … Continue reading
The super nice team of Anna and Mike who are Luna Weddings photographed Beth & Luke’s midsummer night’s dream wedding here last July – actually a year ago this week (where did that time go?!). You can see more of Beth & Luke’s wedding photos here on our real weddings page. With dreamy flowers by Dartmoor Flowers, bridal plaited hair woven with flowers, photos on the river walk and a home made cake dripping with real roses, this was a quintessentially Devon garden wedding – just what Beth and Luke had talked about when they first came to see us. Anna and Mike have showcased the wedding on their blog so do click here to pop over and read a lovely write up of the venue (thanks guys!) and take a look at some unseen photos. If you’d like to ask about holding your wedding here at Ever After, drop me a line at email@example.com, I’d love to hear all about … Continue reading
Cady & Sam asked for our recommendations for a photographer, florist and cake maker for their Devon wedding here at Ever After and they booked some of our fave wedding suppliers. We’ve known Emma of Freckle Photography since we first opened back in 2013 – we did our first ever photo shoot here with Emma and she is now so super popular for weddings, if you want to book Emma, you’d better get in early! Deborah of Dartmoor Flowers has a hand-picked, garden style that works beautifully with the venue as you can see from this gorgeous pic of Cady’s wedding bouquet with the most perfect peonies and heavenly scented roses. Jenny of Edible Essence is a cake supremo – her naked cake for Cady & Sam’s wedding was a wonder! Deborah provided the flowers for the cake and I dressed the cake table with silver grey linen, tea lights, lanterns and more flowers – the perfect backdrop for a … Continue reading
Thrilled to see this lovely mini film of Mel & Tim’s real winter elopement wedding here in March this year. Shot in their signature combination of super 8 and digital, this little film beautifully captures all the love and happiness between Mel and Tim so evident on the day. The photos are in from Vince of Devon based Yeti Photography of Phillipa and John’s wedding here in May. I’m hoping to persuade Phillipa to give us her thoughts on the wedding planning process and the big day itself but in the meantime I wanted to share some of the highlights from the photos. Phillipa and John got married in Lewdown church. Phillipa and her bridesmaids got ready in the honeymoon cottage on the morning of the wedding and were driven to the church from the venue. After the church service the guests gathered in the field for a clay pigeon shoot with picnic hampers which included game pie and other game related canapes. Because no alcohol is allowed when shooting guests were served ginger beer, cloudy lemonade and elderflower presse, perfectly fitting the English outdoor setting. The weather didn’t exactly co-operate during the shoot but that didn’t seem to dampen anyone’s spirits. Phillipa decorated bottles and … Continue reading

I’ve put together some more through-the-seasons views of the garden from our photography project last year with the lovely Maggie Mccall. Maggie took some great shots of the riverwalk last year. Starting just as the young leaves are unfurling on the weeping willow, full green abundance in the summer, more mellow colours in late summer and finally the low sun and golden tones of autumn. And here’s the river walk being used by real life couples during their wedding day last summer: And also in the evening: For this next series of shots for the project, Maggie was looking towards the wedding barn with the ponds behind her. The crab apple tree in particular shows the changing season through from early spring to autumn. And here’s that view in use in June and September last year: The lower lawns are the location for our outdoor wedding receptions. And here’s some action shots from real weddings last year: If … Continue reading
Lovely to see us featured on Dan Ward’s blog of his weddings and such kind words too from Dan about us: “I shot the most amazing wedding last year (still not used to saying that yet!) at Ever After a Dartmoor Wedding, which if you haven’t checked it out is an absolutely fab venue and one of my favourite weddings from last year.” It’s Jess and Chris’s wedding from June 2015 which Jess planned in just 3 months. Check out Dan’s blog post for more great photos of this wedding and to see more examples of his wedding photography work. We’re more than happy to recommend Dan for your wedding photographer so get in touch with him if you want to check his availability for your wedding and get in touch with me if you want more information about how to book your summer wedding here at firstname.lastname@example.org
Mari and Dan travelled all the way from Australia for their elopement wedding here in March 2016. They were travelling round Europe when Dan said, ‘hey why don’t we get married?’ – so they did! Mari wore a gorgeous pale grey chiffon and silver sequin dress with a cute white feather stole for warmth. She wanted a red and black wedding bouquet with matching buttonhole for Dan who looked splendid in his 3 piece suit hired locally in Tavistock. Mari wanted a 1940’s vintage curled style for her hair and a smoky eye for her make up. Chloe from The Hair Lounge Tavistock and Jess from Visage Aesthetic both came to the venue on the morning of the wedding to do Mari’s hair and make up. After the humanist wedding ceremony performed by Denise and Nicola of Cornish Celebrants, Mari and Dan took their glasses of champagne and had a photo session in the venue grounds and on … Continue reading
Time to share another couple of shots by the lovely Maggie Mccall from the photography project she did here in 2015, capturing the venue through the four seasons. Here are the views up to the ponds from outside the wedding barn. This is where guests often walk down from the arrival drinks at the ponds to the wedding barn for the wedding ceremony. The trees come into leaf in the spring including the wedding cake tree (cornus controversa variegata). In mid-summer we have white perennials in the borders under the trees and by late summer we have masses of white hydrangeas on both sides making a spectacular display. This is a view down the lower lawns. The acer tree provides cool shade for the drinks stations we set up for the summer weddings and is a focal point for the post-wedding drinks reception. I’ve got some more through-the-seasons shots coming up so do pop back to see some … Continue reading
We’re thrilled to be in Bride’s Magazines supplement to the current edition of the magazine – the Top 100 venues list at home and abroad. We’re very happy to be mentioned alongside such a great selection of fabulous venues. And lovely words from the Bride’s editors about us, “It’s designed with plenty of glorious alfresco spaces, yet – if it does decide to pour – owner Nicola has cleverly created several super-chic indoor-outdoor structures (the glass-roofed terrace above is a marvel). The landscaped gardens and stone barns are atmospheric enough, but the real magic lies in the tiny details – edible flowers on the menu anyone?’ If you’re looking for a unique venue for an outdoor wedding – you’ve come to the right place! Email me for details about how to come and see for yourself email@example.com I’d love to hear from you!
We’ve just booked our final Saturday for June 2017 – we have none left! We are opening our Wednesday dates in June so if you must have June and a mid-week wedding might suit you, get in touch! Many (if not most) wedding photographers offer an e-shoot or engagement shoot ahead of your big day. Sometimes it’s offered as part of your photography package with them, sometimes it’s an added extra. These photos caught my eye this morning of one of our lovely couples who are getting married here later this year. They have hired Emma of Freckle Photography to capture their wedding day this summer here at Ever After. Cady & Sam came to the West Country last weekend and touched base with a number of suppliers for their wedding. They had a tasting for their menu at Dartmoor Inn and stayed overnight in their lovely rooms. They had a run through the timings for their day here at the venue and we sorted out lots of details including table linen, table layouts, reception drinks and a whole lot more! And then they went off to see Emma for this super gorgeous e-shoot. … Continue reading
The gardens and grounds here at Ever After make this a beautiful place to be married. And then it gets dark. And when the lights come up, the venue is transformed. We have lots of different forms of lighting from festoon lights, fairy light canopies, steel lanterns, garden uplighters, light up furniture to tea lights and candles. This year we’ve purchased a new fairy light canopy for the wedding barn and we’ve also bought our own fairy light canopy for the marquee which previously couples used to hire in. We’ve always had the disco lights for the marquee and our white starlight dance floor which are great for evening music and dancing. I’ll post some pics of the wedding barn canopy as soon as it goes up. We’ve also bought some new festoon lights with white lanterns which again couples used to hire in. They’re now available free of charge so there’ll be plenty of opportunity … Continue reading

You may have seen one of our real 2015 weddings featured in the brand new edition of Wed Magazine this week. Jess and Chris got married here at Ever After in June last year. Although they live in London, Jess had strong family connections to this part of Devon and a Dartmoor wedding was a must for them. Jess and her sister actually used to ride past the venue as children so it was the perfect venue choice for Jess and Chris. I thought I’d show a few more of the photos of this wedding taken by the lovely Dan Ward as a story of the day. It all starts in the morning with getting ready photos, the preparations are an important part as the excitement builds. Hair and make up were by local stylists Sisters Hair and Beauty. Jess’s something blue were her gorgeous blue suede shoes which made a real impact with her made to … Continue reading
Amanda Randell is one of the few Master florists in the UK and how lucky are we that she lives just down the road from us here at Ever After? I was at the Chelsea Flower Show when Amanda won a gold medal for her work in 2014. Not only is she an amazing florist, she is a super lovely person and she LOVES weddings! She works out of her gorgeous little studio at her home at Green Oak Barn just outside Tavistock. Amanda is a creative genius when it comes to flowers and all things floral. Here’s a sample of some of the works of floral art she has created: So I was really excited when I heard about the cloak of leaves, especially when Amanda told me it had been photographed by another of our local super talents, Maggie Mccall. And the results don’t disappoint – take a look at this shot on location at … Continue reading
Today in part 2 of our interview with Deborah of Dartmoor Flowers, (you can read part 1 here), we’re looking at the beautiful bouquets Deborah created for Fiona and James’s wedding here in June 2015. Of course it also helps to have a great photographer to capture the beauty of the flowers but that’s another post! Fiona and James engaged local photographer Nick Walker who took all these great photos of the wedding flowers. Fiona’s bridal bouquet created by Deborah contained the flowers we talked about yesterday, pale pink peonies, cream and lilac stocks, blue cornflowers, ammi (lace flower), pale pink astilbe and in an echo of the wedding flower arch in the wedding barn, the hanging green amaranthus, all of which you can identify in the photos above. These photos of Fiona and James show that Deborah perfectly created the feel that Fiona wanted – spring pastel colours, looking natural and hand-picked. Deborah told me that the pinterest page she … Continue reading
We have plenty of slate signs here at Ever After which are available for use by our couples on their wedding day to create that perfect English garden wedding feel. Signs can be used to direct guests to certain places, let them know what you want them to do say with the guest book or at the bar. Signs can be dotted around the venue and the gardens as you like… Are you thinking of having signs at your wedding? You’re welcome to design and bring your own signs, borrow ours or (if you give us enough notice) we can design bespoke signs for you as all ours are hand drawn in-house. Take a look on our inspiration page of our website to see how you might use our signs and other items to dress the venue for your outdoor wedding.
