I’m just getting the last of the summer weddings up on the real weddings page of the website. Today’s is a goodie! It’s Lauren and Paul photographed by the lovely Clare Kinchin (who incidentally is also our exclusive elopement photographer so if you want to see even more of Clare’s work here, pop over to our real elopements page) Lauren and Paul live locally in Plymouth and wanted to reflect Paul’s Scottish heritage and his job as a submariner. Lauren had a dream dress in mind and together they made an uber stylish pair. You can see a gorgeous hand-picked selection of Lauren and Paul’s photos here on their real weddings page but I thought I would take the opportunity to share more of their photos with you as they’re so gorgeous and I know our readers love to see our real weddings photos. Clare always take fab getting ready photos, getting all the details of … Continue reading

We made it! Our woodland shoot from last year shot with a fabulous team has made it onto the utterly gorgeous Magnolia Rouge blog. When I started out in the wedding business in 2014, it was one of my ambitions to be featured in Magnolia Rouge and last year I got together with the lovely Amber Persia, super talented florist and stylist and she brought on board fine art photographer Theresa Furey who shot the day on film. We were of course blessed with our gorgeous model (always helps!) Claire from Base Models who was such a trooper on the day as she stood in the freezing river and tried not to shiver! Claire was made even more beautiful by our gifted hair and make up artist Nicola Pettitt. Take a look at the full feature now on Magnolia Rouge in all its gorgeousness… I’ll be featuring some unseen shots here on the blog shortly and talking about … Continue reading
Our bespoke marquee is down for the winter and won’t be back up until mid-April next year. In the meantime I thought I’d share a few photos of the marquee in the evening. Amy & James used the marquee for their wedding breakfast. After the wedding breakfast guests move to the terrace for tea & coffee and we change over the space for music and dancing. Whilst guests are in the marquee enjoying a delicious wedding breakfast we light the fire and the candles on the terrace ready for tea and coffee. Let the evening celebrations begin! See more of our real weddings here on our website and if you’d like to visit us here at Ever After and have a chat about holding your summer garden wedding here, get in touch! Last winter the lovely S and I decided to create a new feature at the venue. The venue has always been located right on the banks of the river Walkham but the previous owners had planted what is now a 20 ft plus screen of rhodedendrons and other trees which totally obscured the view of the river. It had always seemed a shame not to be able to enjoy this unique resource but it took S and I some time to figure out how to open up access to the river and maintain the screen. We thought we’d just create a narrow path on the river bank so that couples and their guests could actually see the river. What started out as a little 3 week job turned into a mammoth 4 month landscaping project with diggers, chainsaws, several tons of stone collected from our garden and a lot of mud. S spent most of the winter stood in the … Continue reading
We’re thrilled to see Amy and James’s wedding in the brand new issue of Wed Magazine out this week. The lovely Ben & Sarah from Ben Selway Photography did an epic session in the woods on the day with Amy & James. Take a look at this selection of the woodland shots: I love these of Amy and James on the banks of the river – so romantic and Ben has managed to perfectly capture moments of intimacy in such a large space. Ben has a passion for surf photography so it was no surprise that he got into the water to get these great shots – how epic are these but of course he wasn’t doing all this in a long frock like our Amy! The woods make a most glorious back drop for wedding photos so don’t forget to bring your wellies with you on the day! If you’d like to see more photos from Amy & … Continue reading
Phew… The first time in weeks I have been able to get to the blog. We’ve had weddings every Saturday since the start of the season and it’s been intense! Wonderful but busy… Our new river walk has been super popular with our wedding couples and photographers alike. I can’t wait to see all the different photos as they start to arrive over the next few weeks but I thought I would share this one courtesy of a new wedding photographer for us this year, the lovely Nick Walker. Gorgeous flowers by local florist Deborah who owns and runs Dartmoor Flowers Nick captured Fiona and James at their wedding here last month. These photos really show how many different parts of the venue there are and what great opportunities there are for photos. Not to mention capturing all those love and laughter moments with the people most special to you. Enjoy!

I love weddings, that’s why I love my job… And yes I love all the wedding details, fabulous food, cute signature cocktails, hand crafted bits and pieces for the wedding breakfast tables, swoon-worthy flowers but what really matters is the wedding ceremony. The fact that everyone has been brought together on this day to celebrate two people in love who want their loved ones to witness their public commitment to each other. Some photos from Suzannah and Bobby’s wedding here in August were a great reminder of that point this week. I love this series of photos capturing so completely the emotions in the exchange of vows… Bobby & Suzannah wrote their own vows and this picture of Bobby making his vow to Suzannah shows how many people were watching him speak his heart felt words but looking at his face, it’s just the two of them. This close up shows them totally in their bubble together… But … Continue reading
When it came to renovating the honeymoon cottage, I wanted to create a design which applied to the whole cottage so that it felt coherent and connected. One way to do that was with the colour so there is a limited colour of greys, whites and metallics. All the paint colours were from Farrow & Balls range of greys, from the palest Blackened (historically made by adding burnt lamp oil to white paint) to the darkest Downpipe. The other was by repeating particular design elements such as the tongue and groove panelling and heart motifs. Photography: Marc Wilson Everyone loves the honeymoon cottage when they view it – see for yourself, call me and make an appointment to visit the venue and see about booking your wedding here at Ever After.
You may have seen photos from our last photo shoot here in May. This week a super talented team of West Country wedding professionals pooled their talents to transform our venue into a sparkly, twinkly, super glam space for a wedding. We had the lovely Elle from Inspire Hire who brought along her ghost chairs and her white bubble furniture and lots of gorgeous accessories which added a cool, contemporary look. Elle pulled everything together and it was her vision and her incredibly hard work that made it all happen. Ghost chairs and bubble furniture from Inspire Hire The award winning photographer Emma Solley was the mistress of photography. It’s amazing to watch Emma work, she is so focused AND so lovely – a winning combination and couples who have her photographing their wedding are very lucky. Photographer: Emma Solley. Courtesy of Wed Magazine We had a gorgeous selection of dresses from the incredibly talented couture wedding dress designer Sarah Treble based in Exeter. Photographer: Sarah Gawler.
