We’re moving into June for our spotlight this week, a time in the garden where you seem to have the best of both worlds with the spring rhododendrons still in full bloom but also the start of the roses and a real sense of summer on its way. Johanna and Andy lived in Hull at the time of their booking and Tavistock definitely took on a Yorkshire flavour for the weekend of their wedding with their guests filling the local accommodation. The venue was booked 14 months before the wedding. After the booking came the lovely news that there would be an additional guest at the wedding, Johanna was pregnant and the baby would be 5 months old by the time of the wedding day. So as if Johanna didn’t have enough to do organising the wedding, she was also dealing with her pregnancy and a lively toddler, the gorgeously named Amber Lily who was going to be … Continue reading
Kate & John lived in Leicestershire but had close family ties in Devon. They were married in Tavistock church on a beautiful sunny day at the end of May 2016. Kate got ready for the wedding here at the honeymoon cottage together with her bridesmaids. Flowers were created with love by Kate’s Mum and her Mother in Law. Hair and make up for Kate were by Nicola Pettitt who came to the honeymoon cottage on the morning of the wedding. Kate had five bridesmaids, two of whom stayed over with Kate at the honeymoon cottage the night before, the others joined the next morning for hair, make up and all the general morning preparations. Our bus service brought all the wedding guests back to the venue from the church after their 3 pm church wedding service. Guests were brought to the wedding barn where a drinks station was set up with elderflower bubbly served in flutes dressed … Continue reading
A friend of mine has been staying with us over from the States this week. Tonight she was flying from Exeter airport and sent me a message to say she had bought some Wedding Magazines from the airport shop (wedding fever is not contagious here, her daughter is getting married next year!) and when she opened one of them, there we were! Your Devon & Cornwall Wedding Magazine has done a feature on wedding venues with Glorious Gardens and there’s a nice lil feature on Ever After… If you’d like to know more about how to have your wedding in our glorious garden, get in touch with me at firstname.lastname@example.org

I’m just getting the last of the summer weddings up on the real weddings page of the website. Today’s is a goodie! It’s Lauren and Paul photographed by the lovely Clare Kinchin (who incidentally is also our exclusive elopement photographer so if you want to see even more of Clare’s work here, pop over to our real elopements page) Lauren and Paul live locally in Plymouth and wanted to reflect Paul’s Scottish heritage and his job as a submariner. Lauren had a dream dress in mind and together they made an uber stylish pair. You can see a gorgeous hand-picked selection of Lauren and Paul’s photos here on their real weddings page but I thought I would take the opportunity to share more of their photos with you as they’re so gorgeous and I know our readers love to see our real weddings photos. Clare always take fab getting ready photos, getting all the details of … Continue reading
We’re proud to feature on the directory of Coco Wedding Venues, the uber stylish wedding venue finder run by the lovely Emma, we’ve been listed with Coco since they first started 3 years ago and we’ve been featured a number of times, including just yesterday with our elopement weddings. You can read some of the pieces here and here. In this year’s annual wedding 2017 trend report featured on her blog, Emma talks about what you might be seeing for next year’s weddings. I am totally with Emma that the point of wedding trends is not to blindly follow fashion but of course weddings are influenced by fashions of the day. I think it’s part of the charm of wedding photos that when you look at most of them you can tell which decade it took place. A 1940’s wedding looks of its time as does one from the 1960’s or 70’s. So trends and fashions … Continue reading
Yesterday I received the mini film which Ben from Foster Filming put together for Hannah & Kevin who got married here back in July 2016. Couples who book their wedding film with Ben get a longer version of the film, this is just a taster. Hannah & Kevin created and brought along all their own signage plus Kevin made the rustic arch you see in the wedding barn which was dressed with foliage and flowers for the ceremony backdrop. Kevin and Hannah very kindly donated the arch for use by others – we have such lovely wedding couples here! Hannah & Kevin had the most amazing foliage chandeliers in the wedding marquee which along with the foliage hoops, table centrepieces and fabulous bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets were all put together by Dartmoor Flowers. You’ll notice the foliage hoops behind the top table in the wedding marquee for the wedding breakfast. The Ever After team moved those down … Continue reading
Great post on the lovely Sam Docker’s blog yesterday. Click on the picture below for the full story and all the fab pics from Georgia and Lee’s gorgeous wedding here in August, including the following lovely review from Sam which we’re thrilled to receive: “The Ever After venue in Lower Grenofen really was a hidden gem, one of those where you question your sat nav, are you being led on a merry dance down a country lane with a dead end?! But fear not, at the end of that country lane was the most incredible setting for a gathering, there were no worries about disturbing the neighbours here, because there are none!! The grounds were stunning, the rooms next level, the space and flow of the day was perfect and the food was amazing, there can’t have been a single guest who was disappointed, it had it all. Georgia and Lee must still be beaming with their choice of venue and … Continue reading
The wedding magazine supplement for Devon Life came out recently and one of our lovely brides Kylie was interviewed for a piece about weddings here at Ever After. Here is what Kylie had to say about getting married here, Kylie and Alec had a beautiful day here, one captured perfectly by their amazing photographer Mel at Maxi Photography – here’s a gorgeous pic of the bride and groom at the wedding breakfast… There were so many lovely moments to talk about with Kylie and Alec’s wedding, I’ll be back with some more fab photos of their day and plenty more details.

I love the weeks in the season when all the official wedding photos start rolling in, it’s a chance to re-live the wedding and see all those moments I missed in person – it’s one of my favourite bits of running this business! Johanna and Andy got married here in a mid-week wedding at the beginning of June. These shots of the moments leading up to the wedding ceremony in the barn are some of my favourites, Johanna coming out of the honeymoon cottage with her father before entering the barn, Andy looking nervous as he waits for his bride to arrive, Johanna’s billowing veil as she walks down the path, the look of love on Andy’s face as he looks at his bride – all perfectly captured by David of David Stubbs Photography. Johanna and Andy had a wooden arch as the ceremony back drop beautifully decorated by florist Deborah of Dartmoor Flowers with roses and peonies in peach, … Continue reading
Cady & Sam asked for our recommendations for a photographer, florist and cake maker for their Devon wedding here at Ever After and they booked some of our fave wedding suppliers. We’ve known Emma of Freckle Photography since we first opened back in 2013 – we did our first ever photo shoot here with Emma and she is now so super popular for weddings, if you want to book Emma, you’d better get in early! Deborah of Dartmoor Flowers has a hand-picked, garden style that works beautifully with the venue as you can see from this gorgeous pic of Cady’s wedding bouquet with the most perfect peonies and heavenly scented roses. Jenny of Edible Essence is a cake supremo – her naked cake for Cady & Sam’s wedding was a wonder! Deborah provided the flowers for the cake and I dressed the cake table with silver grey linen, tea lights, lanterns and more flowers – the perfect backdrop for a … Continue reading
Back in April I featured the real winter elopement wedding here of Marianne and Dan. Click here to read more details about their romantic, intimate wedding day. Our lovely winter elopement photographer Clare Kinchin has put a lot more of Marianne and Dan’s photos up on her website – yey! Click here to see more pics from this impossibly romantic elopement wedding. Email me at firstname.lastname@example.org about how to hold your winter elopement wedding here and have exclusive use of our beautiful woodland venue.
I got on a roll putting up the photos from the Magnolia Rouge shoot this morning so thought I would get on and do the winter elopement shoots we did here last year with our elopement photographer Clare Kinchin, our elopement florist Amanda Randell and our preferred elopement hair and make up duo, Jodie and Chloe from The Hair Lounge Tavistock and Jess from Visage Aesthetics. The lovely Kayleigh and Ben were our local, real life models who had got married in real life a few months earlier. They’re just so lovely together, it was like being at a real wedding! I wanted to do a shoot here in December because I wanted to give couples a realistic view of what the garden looks like here in the winter. There are no leaves on the trees and nothing is in flower but the venue still has its own natural beauty as you can see from the photos. We … Continue reading

I’ve put together some more through-the-seasons views of the garden from our photography project last year with the lovely Maggie Mccall. Maggie took some great shots of the riverwalk last year. Starting just as the young leaves are unfurling on the weeping willow, full green abundance in the summer, more mellow colours in late summer and finally the low sun and golden tones of autumn. And here’s the river walk being used by real life couples during their wedding day last summer: And also in the evening: For this next series of shots for the project, Maggie was looking towards the wedding barn with the ponds behind her. The crab apple tree in particular shows the changing season through from early spring to autumn. And here’s that view in use in June and September last year: The lower lawns are the location for our outdoor wedding receptions. And here’s some action shots from real weddings last year: If … Continue reading
We’re thrilled that Pop Up Opera have asked us to host their production of Barber of Seville here at Ever After this July. On Wednesday 6th July this summer we’re doing opera! We haven’t done this before – it’s all new to us but we’re so excited to be part of it. Tickets have gone on sale here online this morning. Prices are £20 for a regular ticket for the opera only or £45 for a ticket to include a luxury picnic hamper with food including chilled gazpacho, fillet of salmon with sorrel mayonnaise or fillet of corn fed chicken with asparagus and tarragon both served with crushed potato salad, pea shoots. For dessert there are meringues, Tamar strawberries and clotted cream. Delish! We’ll have a pay … Continue reading
Time to share another couple of shots by the lovely Maggie Mccall from the photography project she did here in 2015, capturing the venue through the four seasons. Here are the views up to the ponds from outside the wedding barn. This is where guests often walk down from the arrival drinks at the ponds to the wedding barn for the wedding ceremony. The trees come into leaf in the spring including the wedding cake tree (cornus controversa variegata). In mid-summer we have white perennials in the borders under the trees and by late summer we have masses of white hydrangeas on both sides making a spectacular display. This is a view down the lower lawns. The acer tree provides cool shade for the drinks stations we set up for the summer weddings and is a focal point for the post-wedding drinks reception. I’ve got some more through-the-seasons shots coming up so do pop back to see some … Continue reading
We’re thrilled to be in Bride’s Magazines supplement to the current edition of the magazine – the Top 100 venues list at home and abroad. We’re very happy to be mentioned alongside such a great selection of fabulous venues. And lovely words from the Bride’s editors about us, “It’s designed with plenty of glorious alfresco spaces, yet – if it does decide to pour – owner Nicola has cleverly created several super-chic indoor-outdoor structures (the glass-roofed terrace above is a marvel). The landscaped gardens and stone barns are atmospheric enough, but the real magic lies in the tiny details – edible flowers on the menu anyone?’ If you’re looking for a unique venue for an outdoor wedding – you’ve come to the right place! Email me for details about how to come and see for yourself firstname.lastname@example.org I’d love to hear from you!
