Getting married in 2013 and haven’t booked your venue yet…?

First piece of advice…don’t panic!   Really.

Some people book their venue a year in advance but many don’t.  What if you haven’t booked 12 months in advance, how do you go about finding a venue?

Wedding venue vendors refer to a booking less than 12 months away as ‘late availability’. There are plenty of venues which have late availability, some even have a special tab on their website. So google, ‘late availability wedding venue’ or ‘last minute wedding venue’. Directories such as have a section for late availability for venues but not all venues publish the fact that they’re not fully booked a year or more in advance.

If most people book why would a venue be available at short notice?

There could be a number of different reasons including:

  • launch of a new business
  • expanding the number of days of operation
  • a cancellation

Even if a venue isn’t advertising late availability, it’s worth asking them if they are available for your date. If they’re booked for the date you want what can you do?   Think about:

  • can you be more flexible about your date?  Consider a date outside the most popular months of July and August
  • look at venues you hadn’t previously considered
  • maybe look at a mid-week wedding if the venue you really want doesn’t have your weekend date free.

Here at Ever After we’re launching a new venue business for 2013 and we’re taking bookings now for the summer months. So even if you haven’t booked your venue yet, it’s not too late.   Come over to our website and see what we have to offer.
