First piece of advice…don’t panic! Really.
Some people book their venue a year in advance but many don’t. What if you haven’t booked 12 months in advance, how do you go about finding a venue?
Wedding venue vendors refer to a booking less than 12 months away as ‘late availability’. There are plenty of venues which have late availability, some even have a special tab on their website. So google, ‘late availability wedding venue’ or ‘last minute wedding venue’. Directories such as hitched.co.uk have a section for late availability for venues but not all venues publish the fact that they’re not fully booked a year or more in advance.
If most people book why would a venue be available at short notice?
There could be a number of different reasons including:
- launch of a new business
- expanding the number of days of operation
- a cancellation
Even if a venue isn’t advertising late availability, it’s worth asking them if they are available for your date. If they’re booked for the date you want what can you do? Think about:
- can you be more flexible about your date? Consider a date outside the most popular months of July and August
- look at venues you hadn’t previously considered
- maybe look at a mid-week wedding if the venue you really want doesn’t have your weekend date free.
