Honeymoon cottage dressing room details continued…

white wedding flowers from ever after's garden

In my last blog post about the honeymoon cottage I talked about the idea behind the room, creating space for the bride (or groom) and attendants to get ready in comfort and style with access to everything they might need so a mini salon for hair and make up, a large silver carved dress mirror and space for family and friends to be together to share the excitement of the preparations.

Today I wanted to look at some of the other details in the dressing room.  There’s a cosy seating area with a wood burning fire and a silver grey linen buttoned sofa.  The sofa is also a queen sized sofa bed so some of the bridal party can stay in the honeymoon cottage the night before the wedding.   We have space for two more people to sleep in the dressing room.

To keep the space as light and airy as possible I have used clear and mirrored furniture and accessories so the coffee table is mirrored on all side and the side tables are perspex so you see straight through them.  There is a variety of lighting, it’s built in 3 layers so that it can be adjusted for different times during the day and night.   For maximum hair and make up light, the hollywood lights around the mirrors are perfect for the purpose.   The four pendant lights are different but are all clear glass and crystal adding to the sparkle and shine.  The lighting is separately switched so the amount of light is controllable depending on the mood you need.   For evenings the vaulted ceiling beams have their own uplighters and there are tiny downlighters on either side of the wood burner which create pools of light which allow you create a completely different atmosphere in the room.  The crystal pendants at the end of room are beautiful in the evening and candlelight adds even more glamour to the lighting.

The floor is made from white oiled oak planks and there are two cosy rugs for warmth and comfort.   As well as the sofa, there are cute silver and cow hide cubes, a baby chaise, a chenille and linen arm chair and the two salon chairs.

As soon as brides come into the room they can see themselves there getting ready on their wedding day with their attendants.   Chatting, putting on makeup, having their hair done, sipping champagne, anticipating the day.

The honeymoon cottage is available exclusively to couples who book their wedding at Ever After so if you’d like to know more about what we can offer and how you can book your wedding with us, get in touch!
