inspirational autumn photo shoot – featured on ruffled blog…

We are sooo thrilled to see our recent autumn inspiration shoot featured yesterday over on the fabulous Ruffled Blog.

The wedding and fashion photographer Emma Barrow approached me in the summer about doing an Autumn inspired shoot here at Ever After.   As soon as she mentioned Holly Bee Flowers were the florist for the shoot, I was on board.

Holly grows her own flowers and I’m popping up to see her growing patch later this month so I’m really looking forward to learning much more about what Holly has and what she does.

Emma gathered a team of suppliers to work on the shoot including Nikki from Knots & Kisses who I’ve known for a number of years as a wedding stationer.  Nikki is branching into wedding styling so look out for the new section on her website shortly.

We were looking to create a shoot based on an autumn elopement wedding for just a few guests, with a table set up for the wedding breakfast outside, a semi naked cake and lots of autumnal fruit and flowers – everywhere!

A full list of lovely suppliers is at the end of the post so if you like the look of someone’s work, just click on the link to their website.

Nikki of Knots and Kisses styled the outdoor dark wood table with 2 shades of grey crockery and autumn fire linen napkins.  Gold foiled pears by Nikki were used to secure guest place names.  Our glassware in autumn colours of amber and blue/grey and brass & black cutlery added to the moody mix.

Holly created the gloriously wild, abundant centerpiece with roses, dahlias (including my fav cafe au lait) and phlox in the most mouthwatering autumn colours.  Copper beech stems and chocolate cosmos added to the dark velvety feel.

Emily of Queen Bee Cakes created the semi naked wedding cake which was perched on my antique dark wood table decorated with my e-bay purchase of gold etched champagne saucers.  The cake was a confection of chocolate cake, filled with the most delicious chocolate ganache and blackberries, rosemary & a touch of gold foil creating a feel of autumn luxe.   We added a bit of height to the cake with a drawer from an old chest I’ve had for years.

We created a cosy seating area outside, perfect for sipping a range of autumn cocktails we prepared.

I’ll be back with more from this gorgeous autumn shoot and all the deets of our autumn elopement cocktails…
