Wedding trends part 1- love them or hate them?

It’s the start of a New Year so there is a lot of advice coming through about what the 2015 wedding trends are.

I love reading them – some stuff I love, some stuff well, not so much.  But what about wedding trends – what’s the point of them and does it make you a fashion victim if you follow them?

I find blogs and articles about future trends inspiring, it shows me things I may not have considered before, things I would never have dreamed of, maybe even challenges some prejudices I might be holding.   It reminds me that each wedding can be different and can be a surprise and delight for guests as they come together to celebrate this special day for the couple.

Some people can be dismissive of trends and fashions for weddings but for hundreds of years weddings have followed fashion.   If you look at most wedding photos, you can usually take a good guess at the decade of the wedding by the fashion, hair, make up etc.   Even if we think we’re not super trendy, there are give-aways in what we choose to wear and how we choose to look that mark us out as being of our time.  So we may as well accept that yes, weddings are a celebration of two people getting married but they’re getting married NOW, at THIS time so it’s highly likely that what they choose to wear at that celebration will reflect this time – so let’s enjoy it!

Over the coming few posts I’ll be shining a spotlight on some of the detail of the 2015 wedding trends and how they might work here at Ever After.

Check back in next week for the next update!
