Are you going naked…?

…I mean cake-wise of course…

Wedding cakes without the traditional icing and accompanying sugar craft decorations have come to be known as ‘naked cakes’ and they’ve come a long way.

Naked cakes used to be just cakes without icing, something pared down and ‘au naturel’ but they’ve recently taken on a life of their own and can look just as elaborate as the most equisitely iced cake and I’m a big fan. Check out my Pinterest board devoted entirely to the naked cake!

Recent trends have been decorating with flowers, fruit and even a dusting of icing sugar. It can fit with almost any look, theme and feel to a wedding and works particularly well for garden, outdoor and summer weddings.

We featured a naked cake in our Eco-Luxe photo shoot here at the venue last year and it remains one of my favourites – so naturally yummy!
