“It is amazing how much can be done with so little – Royal Opera and Holland Park take note. The voices were first rate and the slides provided enough translation to keep the audience involved without distracting from the performance. Well done to all concerned and we are looking forward to the next production.

“A fantastic evening – so cleverly staged, acted and sung. Everyone would enjoy this – young and old, opera buffs and first timers!”

“A very successful pairing of these two singspiele, with der Schauspieldirektor as a backstage prologue to Bastien und Bastienne…A talented cast showed strong comic timing, as well as singing beautifully when appropriate…The German sounded excellent to me, and the surtitles were Pop-up’s usual entertaining paraphrase/commentary”

“It was very much opera light, in the best sense, greatly compacting the original without losing a great deal, with subtitles on backing screens which, surprisingly, did not distract from the singing, indeed enhanced it. Subtitles is perhaps the wrong word, but they have to be seen tbe understood!

A wonderful evening, highly recommended for operation fans but also a great introduction to opera for newcomer. Far from intimidating and a unique, and successful, way to bring opera in its original language to people who have no knowledge of that language.

I heartily recommended this company for anyone who wants a thoroughly enjoyable, and somewhat different, evenings entertainment.”

“Bastien and Bastienne, was my favourite with delightful singing… The surtitles were light and witty, they added so much to the production”
