Jen & Si, December 2024

“Our wedding at Ever After was not only intimate and set in beautiful surroundings, but completely enchanting and utterly spellbinding at every moment. We have the most precious memories to last our lifetime together, and parts of our souls will linger there, by the log fire, or perhaps in the woodland by the river, forever. We really cannot thank Nicola and her team enough. From the booking 9 months prior, to gently working with the expert team of suppliers, we had a completely stress-free planning process, which was really needed after a difficult year. Our host, Lydia, was both attentive and discreet, even spotting things that I had completely forgotten, such as realising we had brought our own cake knife.

As soon as we drove down the driveway, we knew we were in a little corner of heaven. A warm welcome awaited us and our dogs, before we were left to discover the luxurious and well-appointed honeymoon cottage and explore the riverside walks. The cottage is simply perfect – luxurious, cosy and functional, with many thoughtful considerations to support you on your special day. True 5-star accommodation.

The wedding day began with a serene and peaceful dog walk along the banks of the river before Jen’s hair and make-up team arrived. We used the Looking Glass, who are based in Tavistock, and both Bridget and Emi were absolutely fantastic and so friendly. There was little time for any worries as the various suppliers delivered our wedding goodies. The flowers from Jodie at Moss and Mushrooms far exceeded our expectations with true attention to detail. As the groom, I greatly appreciated the help with my buttonhole and Jen was over the moon with her bouquet and the dog’s corsages. The cake from Harrie at Boo to a Goose was just perfect and beautifully adorned with Jodie’s flowers. Meeting Clare, the photographer, was like meeting an old friend, who quickly put us at ease and was so helpful at various times of the day. I highly recommend an additional hour with Clare, which allowed so many additional photo opportunities. She works magic with her cameras and was able to turn two people, who happily admit to being unphotogenic, into a couple that looked as if they had stepped out of the covers of a wedding magazine. The Ever After staff also worked their magic on our guests, who all commented on a very warm welcome and exceptional service.

Our ceremony was held in the Barn which was festively decorated – perfect for us, as two Christmas nuts. The registrar and officiant, Sally and Kim, hosted the most exceptional service with thoughtful choices of readings and additional vows. We had chosen to say our own personal vows alone for our ears only.

Finally, we had the most decadent wedding breakfast in the garden terrace by the roaring log fire. Both ourselves and our guests were treated to an exquisite menu provided by Ollie and the team at Taylor’s of Tavistock, who also thoughtfully catered for one guest with several intolerances. Finally, as our guests left and the evening drew on, we were able to enjoy time just to ourselves, with the warmth and glow of the fire and the scent of woodsmoke in the crisp night air.

Ever After gave us a truly fairy-tale wedding experience that we will remember forever after. Working with them was like working with family who want the best for you, but also deliver a slick and seamless service when it matters most. Thank you so, so much, from the bottom of our hearts.
