Mari and Dan travelled all the way from Australia for their elopement wedding here in March 2016. They were travelling round Europe when Dan said, ‘hey why don’t we get married?’ – so they did!
Mari wore a gorgeous pale grey chiffon and silver sequin dress with a cute white feather stole for warmth. She wanted a red and black wedding bouquet with matching buttonhole for Dan who looked splendid in his 3 piece suit hired locally in Tavistock.
Mari wanted a 1940’s vintage curled style for her hair and a smoky eye for her make up. Chloe from The Hair Lounge Tavistock and Jess from Visage Aesthetic both came to the venue on the morning of the wedding to do Mari’s hair and make up.
After the humanist wedding ceremony performed by Denise and Nicola of Cornish Celebrants, Mari and Dan took their glasses of champagne and had a photo session in the venue grounds and on the river bank before canapes and more champagne in the wedding barn were served by our chef Harrie.
A dining table for two was set up in front of the fire and Harrie presented a delicious meal of seared scallops, pea puree and chorizo butter followed by braised ox cheek, potato puree and roasted roots and finished off with dessert of white chocolate creme brûlée, spiced pineapple tart, vanilla bean ice cream and a passion fruit macaron. Wow! Sounds totally delicious!
The evening was finished on a comfy sofa in front of the fire before the newly weds retired to the honeymoon cottage to end their memorable day.
