April elopement weddings – a round up

April elopements

April is by far our most popular month for elopement weddings.   The dates go quickly.   How quickly?   Well we’re fully booked for April this year and we’re already fully booked for April 2023.  2023?  Seriously?!  Yep, no dates left at all.

Spring wedding

My experience tells me April is even more popular than May for elopement weddings.  Not quite sure why that is but the stats speak for themselves, I’ve still got dates available for elopements in May 2023.

April seems to be that first month of the year when we really seem to be coming out of winter.   In the garden the daffs are up and the camellias are coming out, as are the magnolias if the frost doesn’t get them (like this year).

The trees are getting their first hint of new leaves although they won’t be fully in leaf until nearly the end of May.   The crab apple will be in full blossom at the end of April, depending on the temperatures.  Spring is definitely springing.

April 2021 elopements

Looking back at some of the elopements we had in April 2021, we were still affected by the dreaded Covid as we were battling Government imposed wedding restrictions.  No weddings at all from 4 January to 6 April and then open from 6 April but with guest and other restrictions.  So we had several couples postpone their April elopement weddings til later in the year when they could have the guest numbers they wanted.

6th April 2021 was the first date we could open for business.   Hannah & Ed were first up.  They’d already been postponed from 2020 so they just wanted to get married even though they could only have 4 guests.   Hannah had to do her own hair and make up as hair stylists and make up artists were still closed and weren’t allowed to come to the venue.

Such a spring feel to their day with the flowers by Amanda of Flowers et al, Hannah’s flower crown and their lovely cake by Harrie of Boo To A Goose.  Shades of pale peach, apricot and blush pink.  Roses, lilac and pieris bring a feel of freshness to the wedding flowers.

Emily and John were next.  Shades of sage and grey green in Emily’s bridesmaid’s dress and the succulents in her bouquet and on the cake.   Beautiful soft colours for this wedding:

Claire and Ash got married in the third week of April, just the two of them.  Ivory and lilac were their wish list.  Lilac is such a beautiful wedding flower for spring, the perfume is heavenly and the colour is spring in a flower.  Lilac miniature roses were a perfect accompaniment.

Dusky pinks and ferns were up next for Hannah & Ant who got married at the end of April.  By this time the crab apple was in blossom and the bees were getting drunk on nectar.  Another wedding with just the two of them and another beautiful, sunny, spring day.
