Elopement cakes with flowers
Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock (you haven’t have you?), you know our elopement wedding package includes your wedding cake. And in plenty of cases that means elopement cakes with flowers.
Yep, even if it’s just the two of you with no guests, you get a lil wedding cake just for you. You get to talk cake with our elopement cake maker extraordinaire, Harrie from Boo To A Goose. You pick the flavour, the filling and the decoration.
You’ll have noticed this is part 2 of our look back at our elopement cakes of 2023. There are a lotta cakes to cover. You can see part 1 here.
And when it comes to decoration, elopement cakes with flowers are super popular. Our florist can supply extra flowers at a small extra cost so your cake can have its own floral moment.
This cake from Becky & Shaun’s December 2023 elopement wedding is a classic. Rough coffee buttercream on a chocolate and orange sponge cake dressed with the same flowers as the bouquet. Harrie our cake maker is a dab hand at cake flower arranging – it’s an art in itself. See what I mean?
This next elopement cake is also a classic flower dressed example. From Charis & Nathan’s wedding in May 2023. The cake was a vegan and nut free sponge (all dietary requirements and allergies catered for, just let Harrie know), this time the semi naked cake was lightly butter creamed and then dressed with the same apricot dianthus, astilbe and honeysuckle from the bridal bouquet.
And a final classic example with this lil elopement cake from Hannah & David’s elopement with us back in April last year. The white chocolate and raspberry sponge is iced in palest pink & lilac textured butter cream with gold leaf touches & finished with fresh flowers.
The pale coffee tones of the dianthus and the whites and blushes from the bridal bouquet making sure flowers and cake are on the same page.
Different arrangements
Flowers don’t just have to be arranged on the top of the cake, they can be used in different ways as you can see below in these elopement cakes with flowers.
This 2 tier Dorset apple cake made by Harrie for Alison & Matthew in November last year had rough buttercream icing and flowers on the base only to leave room for their cute cake topper.
Jess & Liam had all the bright colours for their September 2023 wedding and their cake got the memo.
They had a 2 tier sponge, the bottom tier chocolate and caramel and the top tier white chocolate and strawberry with white textured buttercream & sprinkles on top of each tier and fresh flowers pressed into the sides for a fresh take on dressing a wedding cake with flowers.
Cake flowers plus
If you want to add flowers to a cake which has already got other decoration, that can be a thing too.
Take Lorenzo and Louie’s cake from last May. That had dark green icing, plus a dark drip, plus fresh flowers. More can be more…
Then there was Tasha & Chris’s cake which was a grey marbled ganache with a dark green drip and dressed with fresh jasmine fronds for their April elopement.
Emma & Matthew’s April elopement cake was a two tier affair, the bottom tier was Snickers flavour and the top was white choc & raspberry. The bottom tier was stencil painted in green and gold leaf and fresh flowers were added to the layers.
This couple added flowers & macarons to their April 2023 blackforest flavour wedding cake which was painted by Harrie with strokes of burnt orange.
you can see the same sumptuous colours used below in the main bridal bouquet below.
Add fruit for 1 of your 5 a day
Olivia & Darrell’s semi naked elopement cake was covered in a white chocolate ganache and decorated with fresh cherries and blackberries as well as flowers to bring a colour splash to the white & blushes in their September elopement.
Carole & Krzysztof went for an apple and blackcurrant sponge with plain buttercream decorated with fresh flowers, figs and blackberries with touches of gold leaf to bring a seasonal feel to their November wedding.
Jen & Oliver had a semi naked coffee and walnut sponge with rough buttercream top and fresh flowers including dried orange slices provided by the florist in their October elopement.
