Elopement wedding cakes
My last blog post was all about our bridal bouquets for our May 2023 elopements. Take a gander if you missed it.
Today we’re all about elopement wedding cakes. Yum. Ok, so quickly in case you don’t already know, you get your own mini wedding cake with our elopement package included in the price. You can talk with our very own elopement cake maker Harrie from Boo To A Goose and design your own cake, just for you. I know, amazing right? How often do you get to talk with a top cake maker about creating a cake to your very own order? And if you don’t know how to go about that, don’t worry, Harrie will look after you and guide you.
The cake and its place at your wedding is an important part of the set up for your day here. The cake gets its very own setting, its own styling. We take our caking very seriously here at Ever After.
Ok, let’s get back to our elopement wedding cakes from May this year.
Madelaine & Steve
First up it was Madelaine & Steve at the beginning of May. They asked for a 2 tier vegan cake with the palest mint green buttercream icing with trailing peach and pink buttercream details. Wanna see?
The cake always fits with the wedding breakfast set up. As you can see here, the two set ups are very similar, you don’t want them looking like they belong to different weddings.
Here we used our milk glass cake stand in white, layered table linen in similar colours to the main table, silver grey, blue gray table runner and pale pink linen overcloth. We moved one of the flower sprays from the ceremony arch, set out peach, pink and white tea lights, used our white wood carved cake knife and slice and put out white square cake plates with cake forks.
Lizzie our florist decorated the the cake with fresh flowers – bride Madelaine loved flowers so she went to town.
We always consider the backdrop for our elopement wedding cakes, here it’s our gorgeous stone wall on the terrace with natural planting which sets off the cake perfectly.
Lorenzo & Louie
Then our 2 lovely grooms Lorenzo & Louie. They gave Harrie our cake maker free reign but requested dark greens with fresh flowers and one tier lemon drizzle the other tier chocolate. Ready for this?
I know right? Harrie created a 2 tier cake with dark green icing and darker green icing drip. We set the cake up on the hand cart as the boys wanted a very rustic feel for their wedding. We used our marble and wood cake stand and set that on one of our giant log slice for extra impact. The backdrop is the Corten steel water feature set in the stone wall. Jodie the florist decorated the cake with flowers to echo the dining table display, blue agapanthus, ferns, ivy and white astrantia.
Close up of Jodie’s work with the flowers, it looked great from every angle
Rustic tea lights on and around the log slice and vintage tea cups and saucers set the whole thing off
and you can see here how the cake setting fit with the rest of the terrace set up.
Frankie & Jack
And on in our review of our May 2023 elopement wedding cakes. Frankie and Jack are up next. Their request was for a red velvet cake with pink cream buttercream ‘stripes’ or ombre. Let’s take a look…
Frankie & Jack were super happy.
Here’s how the cake fitted into the overall styling. We set up the cake on the hand cart for that rustic feel and repeated the raspberry pink runner that appeared on the main table.
And for a close up of the details
The tealights and the giant log slice brought together the wedding colours and overall rustic styling Frankie and Jack wanted.
Charis & Nathan
Moving onto something completely different as they say, we go to Charis and Nathan who also gave Harrie a lot of free reign. They asked for a vegan and nut free semi naked cake with fresh flowers. They had 2 guests so this is the perfect size cake for 4 people. Jodie the florist supplied the flowers, love the apricot carnations and the honeysuckle, also some copper beech leaves in there.
In keeping with the rustic styling for the rest of the set up, we popped the cake on a wooden cake stand on an oak barrel. We draped a blush pink runner on the barrel and added pink, white and bark tealights. The carved white cake knife and slice made the finishing touch.
Here you can see the cake and the barrel in the backdrop of the main table so the guests had a good view of the cake from where they were eating. Always good to be able to keep an eye on your cake right?
Pippa & Ben
Pippa and Ben had 8 guests and they wanted a coffee and and milk chocolate semi naked cake with gold leaf and fresh flowers. Did we deliver? Oh I think so.
The cake was set up on the hand cart on a rust coloured runner. We used our dark lustre cake stand and decorated with bark and green tea lights. Ready for some close ups?
Sand dune roses from florist Jodie along with the striated lysianthus, some orange geums and more of those copper beach leaves from the bridal bouquet were the perfect dressing for the cake.
Sarah & Adrik
Sarah & Adrik asked for a fully iced white lemon cake decorated with fresh flowers. Remember they had the super bright flowers for their wedding? Want to see what that looks like? Here you go
This cake had its own table dressed with linen to match the wedding breakfast set up. We used our blue milk glass cake stand and Jodie the florist supplied roses, ranunculus, delphiniums and daisies. The couple brought in their own cake topper and we used a selection of our coloured tea lights and copper lanterns with flower patterned cake plates – lovely!
Kelly & Charlie
Kelly & Charlie got married here at the end of May. Their cake request? A vegan vanilla semi naked cake decorated with fresh flowers. The cake was set up on the hand cart on our marble and wood cake stand which was on the giant oak slice which was on a blue broderie runner and decorated with fresh flowers and coloured tea lights. Ok let’s see it…
Kelly & Charlie brought in the carved wooden heart and we used our carved white cake knife and slice and flowered cake plates.
Eve & Karl
Eve and Karl got married with us towards the end of May and their cake request was for a Nutella cake in a rough white buttercream finish with fresh flowers arranged to create a ‘wild’ look – I said you could ask for anything didn’t I? So here we go, remember the antlers in the bridal bouquet? Well we get more antlers on the cake – you knew that was a thing right?
The cake was set up on the hand cart with the drinks on the dark lustre cake stand which we put on a giant log slice and the log slice was on one of our pressed flower printed runners. Jodie the florist supplied the fresh flowers and we moved one of the ceremony arch sprays behind the cake as part of the back drop. Karl brought in a special knife that had been made for the occasion.
Def want to show you some more close ups of this fab cake
