devon inspired garden party wedding
cady & sam were married here at ever after in june 2016. there were a couple of sprinkles of unforecasted rain as guests arrived so we brought out the brollies but by the time of the wedding ceremony, it was all dry. arrival drinks were served up at the top ponds and then guests walked down to the wedding barn for the ceremony.
cady wore a beautiful charlie brear gown with white flowers in her hair and her 6 bridesmaids were in pale sage gowns by bridesmaids of london. cady did her own make up and her hair was done by a family friend. sam was super dapper in tartan waistcoat, peacock lined suit jacket by gresham blake.
the wedding barn was decorated with a foliage arch and real petals strewn on the aisle. cady & the gang had fabulous bouquets in muted vintage garden colours with peonies, roses, stocks & dusky grey foliage tied with silk ribbons. dartmoor flowers also supplied flowers for the most amazing naked cake by edible essence cake couture and our salvage window which cady & sam used for their table plan.
the wedding ceremony was filled with laughter (I defy you not to smile as you see Cady smiling fit to burst!) & had a fab confetti throw on the lawns before going straight into a drinks reception with tiny smoked haddock fish cakes and crisp fried duck with sweet chili sauce canapes washed down with pink champagne & gin cocktails dressed with mint & cucumber. wheelbarrows of beer & dispensers of sparkling fruit waters kept guests topped up during the drinks reception.
cady & sam had 3 lines of long tables off a long top table set with silver grey table linen & the ghost chairs. those fab foliage garlands dotted with flowers ran the length of the marquee and the long tables had their own central foliage garland with a sprig of eucalyptus on each napkin. guests dined on edible flower salads with courgette blossoms, avocado & crisp pancetta, duck rillette with asparagus followed by almond frangipan with blueberries & clotted cream to reflect the elegant garden party feel. speeches were toasted with more pink champagne.
after the wedding breakfast, guests moved out to the lawns for tea & coffee. ever after bar staff served wines, G&T’s, vodka, whisky & mixers with more beer & soft drinks from the free bar whilst the band (folk knights) set up for the first dance. after their work out on the dance floor, guests were treated to tiny fish & chips in cones (always popular!) & mini pulled pork baps.
emma of freckle captured the whole day beautifully, that one of cady’s shocked face during the speeches on the lawn is definitely one for the album. smiley loveliness sums up this wedding for me.
