Winter elopement weddings – Part 2

Winter elopement weddings

Now we’re officially in November I’m looking at what changes take place for our winter elopement weddings here at the venue as we move into the winter wedding season.   This is part 2 of our look back at previous November weddings from recent years.   You can read Part 1 here.

As you know, the main change is the reduction in guest numbers to 6 from the beginning of November.   Plus the 2 of you, so a total of 8 people.   We light the fire on the terrace early and we’ve got 2 heaters down there too to keep you toasty.

Even so November is not the summer (newsflash) so we recommend you advise your guests that thin summer dresses and strappy sandals alone are probably not appropriate winter elopement wedding wear.   Guests need to dress for the weather unless they really never feel the cold – in which case summer clothes all the way if you want.

Ok let’s get into our next November real elopement wedding look back. In November 2021 there was a selection of ceremonies in the wedding barn and some on the terrace…

November winter elopement weddings – what’s your colour?

What does a November elopement look like colour wise?   Well, you know the answer to that – every colour you can think of.   It’s your wedding, your choice.

Frosty pastels, copper tones, dark berry shades, rustic neutrals – it’s all here.   Of course if you get stuck, you can either go down the rabbit hole that is pinterest (check out our boards here) or you can look through our previous elopement weddings (there are a lot and they’re all here) and just let us know which ones you like.

Let’s dive in and see what other couples were choosing for their November elopement weddings with us.

Ashleigh & Michael, November 2021

Ashleigh & Michael wanted gothic, vintage glamour for their winter elopement wedding. They went for burgundy, deep reds, deep greens, splashes of orange rust flowers.   Cake wise, they chose a black ganache sponge with berries and figs decorated with cake flowers.  I know right?

We dressed the Registrar’s table, cake table and dining table in dark platinum matte sequins with a dark berry overcloth.  The dining table was set with dark red chargers, black napkins and plenty of copper and dark metallics for tealights.

And this is what that looks like – check out Ashleigh’s exquisite flower crown…

Fabi-Ann & Dan

These guys went for something completely different for their colours – nudes, champagne, blushes and lots of foliage – perfect for Fabi-Ann’s wedding dress in a heavy champagne coloured satin crepe.   The cake choice was semi naked with fresh flowers – vanilla and lemon curd flavour (yum).

Their sweetheart table was set up on the terrace with champagne table linen, rustic vase and tealights and amber water glasses for a dash of colour.   The lounging area in front of the fire was covered with cosy rugs and blankets.   See more of their wedding over on their real elopement wedding page.

Hayley & Sebastian, November 2021

Next up Hayley & Sebastian wanted dark blue and gold.    They got married in the wedding barn followed by a drinks reception outside – it was a super sunny November day.  Their cake was dark blue icing with gold splatter and we set up their dining table for 8 with gold beaded chargers, gold napkin rings and dark blue water glasses.

Molly & Laura, November 2021

Molly & Laura got married on the terrace with just two guests.   They were clear on one thing, ‘no Christmassy references’ – got it.   They wanted ‘rustic relaxed’, neutral colours with copper and blue accents.   We set up the dining table for four with copper hammered chargers, natural linen overcloth and rustic linen fringed runner, natural linen napkins with copper napkin rings, rustic vase and tealights and dark blue water glasses to pick up the blue in the bouquet.   The cake was on a marble and wood cake stand and Harrie painted the cake with copper brushstrokes and decorated with pale copper fresh roses.

Natasha & Stuart, November 2021

Natasha & Stuart also had 2 guests and got married in the wedding barn.    Their colours were white and green with ‘obvious winter touches like pine cones’ – got it.   Our florist added pine cones to the bouquet which also contained white roses, real cotton bolls and anemonies.

Their table for four was dressed with a sage green undercloth, natural linen overcloth, sage green linen napkins with gold beaded chargers and mother of pearl napkin rings.   Rustic vase and tealights in bark, green and frosted white added the final touches.

The cake was semi naked sponge on a marble and wood cake stand and dressed with cotton bolls and roses.

Rachel & Edward, November 2021

Rachel & Edward were all change on the colour front.   They were married in the barn with Rachel wearing a fabulous flower crown in their colours of orange and blues.

Roxie & Ben, November 2021

Roxie & Ben (together with Arlo) had their elopement ceremony in the wedding barn.   Their styling request was ‘winter wonderland style with wooden touches – make it warm, cosy and wintery!’ – ok got that.   Their chosen colours were ivory, blush & dusky pink with gold.    Roxie’s bouquet had dusky pink roses, beautiful white orchids and snowberries for the winter touch.

We dressed the table for 8 with sage green undercloth, a plain linen overcloth with white linen fringed runner sprinkled with real petals.   Log slices for chargers, natural linen napkins and pink swirl water glasses with bark tealights and vase added to the wintery cosy feel.   The lounging area was draped with faux fur throws and cushions for added wintery warmth.

The cake order was semi-naked with green drip and gold splatter, the couple brought in a personalised cake topper which we added after the flowers and flower petals were placed – an overall frosty, winter vibe with those colours.

Natalie & Tony, November 2021

Natalie & Tony are up next with their 2 daughters as their only guests. The chosen colours were blush pink, ivory and green.    One daughter was in pink, the other in dark green.

The bouquet had a selection of blush and ivory roses with skimmia and pine and eucalyptus foliage for contrast.

The cake was finished in a ganache texture with gold leaf and green, topped with fresh flowers.

We set up the table for four with dark green matte sequin table line, dark green linen napkins with mother of pearl napkin rings and glass beaded chargers for a light, elegant feel.   Pink swirl water glasses, a blush linen runner and pale pink and green tealights added the finishing touches.

Lucy & Tony, November 2021

Finally it’s totally different colours again for Lucy & Tony, whites creams & greens with orange accents.

Their cake was chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and cherry jam, decorated with textures of green and cream with white beads and gold leaf.   The cake table was dressed in neutral linens to let the cake colours of green and orange sing out.

We set up the dining table for 8 with cosy sheepskins on request, orange chargers, linen napkins, mother of pearl napkin rings and amber water glasses.
