Can I bring my dog to my wedding…

Can I bring my dog to my wedding?

It’s a question we get asked a lot.   Well, we love dogs here at Ever After – so bringing your dog to your wedding is very definitely a thing.

We had lots of weddings with dogs in 2023 and I’m gonna do a lil round up of some of them.

Dog rules

First off some housekeeping when you ask, can I bring my dog to my wedding.   You can read the details over here on the FAQ – bottom line your dog needs to be well behaved and be good with other dogs and people.   As I say, more deets over on the FAQ’s but assuming you have a friendly well behaved dog, bring ’em along.

Jess, Matt & Barney

Jess & Matt got married with us in April 2023 and Barney the lab was a super important guest.   He featured on the cocktail list, there was a model of him on the wedding cake, he was wearing a tux AND he had his very own canapes made specially for him by his family.  Yep, told you he was important.

To make sure Barney had the best day, Jess & Matt hired our recommended local dog wedding chaperones, Pads for Paws.   You can download their brochure here.

So shall we check out Barney’s day?   Let’s go…

Barney’s day

Barney watched the ceremony in the barn looked after by Sue from Pads for Paws.

He was all dressed up in his wedding tux

After watching the ceremony at a distance being looked after by Sue, Barney came in to greet his people after the ceremony was done.

You’re welcome to have your dog with you throughout the ceremony but Jess & Matt thought Barney might be a bit too excitable to be there for the whole thing so he came in at the end for a tail wag and a fuss

Then Barney did in a walk down the aisle to the drinks reception with another fuss along the way – quick let’s go

Want to see some other Barney features, featuring well, me?

Let’s head over to the bar and the cake table which were definitely both all about moi.

The Bar(ney) menu

There were 3 signature cocktails, one for each person getting married, so Jess, Matt & I each had our own.   There was Limencello Spritz for the bride, Aperol Spritz for the groom and the best name of the 3, a Muddy Paws cocktail for me – yum and you’ll have noted I was the only one with a custom painted portrait, oh yes.

Barney’s wedding cake

Jess & Matt wanted me to feature in their elopement wedding cake made for them by cake maker Harrie of Boo To A Goose.   Hopefully you know by now a totally custom wedding cake is included in Ever After’s elopement wedding package.   Jess & Matt wanted it to look as though I had eaten the wedding cake, as if I would do such a thing, the very thought (but yeah that thought).   They wanted it done in a stylish way, not the kinda way that would put you off, you know eating the actual cake.  Here we go…

I’ve never seen a wedding cake like this, good to know I’m an original thinker.
