Elopement wedding specialists – that’s us!
Hello there! I’m guessing if you’ve landed here you’re at least thinking about an elopement wedding? Right? Great, you’re in the right place!
We’re elopement wedding specialists.
Weddings is it for us, it’s all we do.
Where?
We’re tucked away on the edge of Dartmoor (the National Park runs along our boundary) in 46 acres of woodland on the banks of the river Walkham.
We’ve got accommodation on site for the two of you in our 19th century detached stone cottage, literally right next to our oak framed and stone wedding barn.
We’re registered for legal weddings by Devon County Council and we’re open for elopement weddings in March, April, May, September, October, November and December. What about the other months of the year? Well we’re closed in January, February, June, July and August.
You can get married in our wedding barn…
In the warmer months you can get married outside in our landscaped gardens…
Guests
Can you add guests? Why, yes you can. 6 guests in the cooler months (March, November and December) and 10 guests in the warmer months (April, May, September and October). Plus the two of you so that’s 8 people in total or 12 people in total (including you) depending on the month.
Can you add a few more guests to the maximum? Sorry, no those are the limits due to space constraints.
Oh yes and guests can include your dog. We love a dog at a wedding. You’ll see plenty of dogs included in our wedding gallery. There are some house rules about them – they need to be well behaved and not jump in the ponds but if they can tick those boxes, you’ll all good and you can issue their invite.
We can make recommendations for wedding dog chaperones who can take care of your canine guest on the day and maybe even overnight at their pet hotel. Just ask us.
You don’t have to finalise your guest numbers when you book. You can book for the two of you and add (or reduce) guests later. You can change guest numbers up to a week before the wedding with a full refund for any guest reduction.
What’s included?
This is a full elopement package combining the best of everything inclusive and bespoke. How do we do inclusive and bespoke?
We include a bouquet and buttonhole which is designed specially for you in consultation with our florists. You can also order extra flowers for an additional price if you want.
You get an hour’s photography with our photographer – you can book an extra hour with Clare if you like.
We include a bottle of champagne and canapes for a drinks reception after your ceremony.
You get two nights in our on site honeymoon cottage where we include breakfast ingredients for you, dietary requirements catered for. The cottage has everything you need for a short stay – fully fitted kitchen, downstairs bathroom for guests on the day, living room and getting ready space with hair and make up station upstairs, your bedroom with bifold doors to a first floor terrace overlooking the garden and your own bathroom with freestanding bath, double basins and walk-in shower and oh yeah, a bathroom chandelier.
Bouquet, buttonhole and cake flowers below all from Jess & Liam’s September 2023 wedding
And there’s more, you get a 3 course wedding breakfast,
and an evening mezze platter for you and any guests which we serve in the evening at a time to suit you.
And of course what kinda wedding would it be without a wedding cake. Again included in the package but made specially for you. You choose the flavour, the filling, the decoration in direct consultation with our cake maker
We’ve got all the glassware you could need, we’ll chill your drinks, set up a drinks trolley for you
What do you have to arrange?
We take care of pretty much everything. You have to book the Registrars to come here – we can’t do that for you. You also have to give legal notice of marriage where you live. Other than that, you just turn up the day before. We take care of all the set up, all the clear down and all the on-the-day co-ordination. We let you know where you have to be and when so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
What about all the decor and styling? That’s all done bespoke to each wedding and we work with you in the months before the wedding to figure that out. We wait til you’ve chosen your flowers with the florist and your cake with our cake maker and using those details, your pinterest board if you have one and your fave inspo pics, we make a list of all the decor we’re going to be using for your wedding.
We can make recommendations for hair and make up or you can bring your own people if you prefer. Our recommended suppliers will come here to the venue on the wedding day, trials are optional.
What time does it end?
There’s no curfew for our elopement weddings. Provided we can’t hear any noise from the main house (where we live) after 11pm, you’re good to stay on the terrace as long as you like. Of course if you want to tell your guests there’s a chucking out time, we won’t say a thing.
What happens the day after?
Check out the next day is 11am. Make sure you take your flowers with you. We’ll give you a cake box to take away your wedding cake in case you didn’t get through it all on the day. If you finished it on the day, no judgement.
Then you sit and wait (not long) for your photos to come in from our elopement photographer. Clare gives you a gallery link so you can download the photos whenever it suits you. If you’d prefer her to print them out and maybe even produce an album you can arrange that directly with Clare.
Can we come back in the future?
If you get married with us you get to belong to the exclusive club of people who can rent the cottage in years to come to revisit and celebrate your wedding. It doesn’t have to be your anniversary – we have very limited return stays so we can’t always accommodate particular anniverary dates. Which gives you the freedom to come back in the summer if you had a winter wedding but you’d like to see the gardens in their full glory or come back in the winter if you got married in the summer and you fancy cosying up in front of the fire.
You just need to make sure you let me know you want to be on the waiting list for the anniversary dates so you can be first to know when they’re released.
How do we book our elopement with you?
Here’s what I recommend you do…
Download our elopement brochure
Browse around our elopement gallery where you’ll find hundreds of real elopement weddings we’ve hosted here over the years. They’re handily categorised into seasons (spring, summer, autumn and winter) and then by year and month with the most up to date at the top.
After that, take a look at our online availability calendar to see if we’ve got a date to suit you. All green dates are available. Pink dates are reserved for 7 days.
When you’ve found a date that works for you, email me at [email protected] to reserve your date. I’ll hold your date for 7 days and email you the paperwork which for us are the terms and conditions to sign and an invoice for the deposit which is £600 incl vat. Once you pay the deposit that’s it, you’re booked!
As soon as you’re booked I’ll email you our elopement manual which tells you everything you need to know about getting married here. You can keep in touch with us on insta where you’ll get loads of BTS stuff not only about the elopement weddings as they happen on the day but also of us (and the escapades of our border terriers Spud and Ned). 3 months before your wedding date we’ll start getting into the details, flowers, cake, styling – all the good stuff. And before you know it, your date will have arrived and you’ll be here all ready to get married – yay!
Anything I haven’t covered? Lemme know – drop me an email and I’ll answer any questions you’ve still got.
