Foliage is definitely not a new wedding trend, it’s been around for a few years now and it is fabulous. But the increase in the use of flowers & foliage, and sometimes only foliage, is the prediction for 2018. We’re talking arches, garlands, walls, and even hoops & hanging features… It is going to be big and sticking around for a while.

Arches
Arches of flowers and greenery to decorate the wedding barn were a super popular choice for our 2017 weddings, and is a trend that we can’t wait to see more of in 2018 and even 2019! Flowers & frondescence often act as the perfect wedding space decoration, particularly here at Ever After when you are literally surrounded by nature.

Garlands
The perfect addition to any long table (especially the top table). You can go for a mixture of greenery and flowers as Catie & Dan and Sarah & Josh did below, or opt for greenery alone as our (super on-trend) couple, Jess & Rob did (see more about their foresight for the 2018 wedding trends here).

Helpful tip alert! If you love the ceremony arch and the top table garland, but your budget won’t stretch to cover both, ask your florist to create an arch which can then be moved to the top table as a garland once the ceremony is over. And don’t worry about clumsy ushers or bridesmaids battling with the delicate flowers, the team at Ever After can be on hand to move it for you!
Flower & Foliage Walls
Having one of these beyond stunning floral walls (the ones below created by talented Deborah from Dartmoor Flowers) is a trend prediction for 2018, especially amongst celebrity weddings. We’ve seen more and more of this trend popping up in recent weddings and they make a fabulous backdrop for photos… Is it a consideration for your wedding too?

What else?
I’m glad you asked! The use of foliage in general is one of the biggest predictions for this coming year of weddings, and some of our couples from 2017 came up with their own way of expressing their love for all things leafy. Zoe & Ben had a tropical theme, and florist Amanda Randell created a sensational hanging centrepiece. It really was a spectacular creation, adding a serious ‘wow’ factor to their wedding marquee.

And Sarah & Josh, along with their florist Deborah, created two incredible floral masterpieces which hung from the ceiling of the marquee. Josh made the wooden structures himself, and it was something we had not yet had at Ever After. Hopefully our 2018 & 2019 couples are feeling inspired!
