Our look at 2017 wedding trends – part 3…

Continuing our look at the most talked-about 2017 wedding trends (for part 1 click here and for part 2 click here).   This week we thought we’d highlight one of the other trend forecast by our friends over at Coco Wedding Venues. Minimalist Luxe. Katrina Otter describes this on the Coco Wedding trend report as “stripping things back without scrimping on luxury or the overall style and vibe.”   Yep, love that.   Here we often add to the natural elements and surroundings with metallic vases and candle holders to keep things simple but luxurious as in this cake table display where the simplicity of the cake design is complemented by the sparkling touches of the tea lights and flowers. This cheese cake arrangement on one of our log slices uses an abundance of fruit with oversized lanterns and a bridesmaid’s bouquet, all against a foliage backdrop to create a feeling of luxe with simplicity. Cady & Sam asked for our recommendations for a photographer, florist and cake maker for their Devon wedding here at Ever After and they booked some of our fave wedding suppliers. We’ve known Emma of Freckle Photography since we first opened back in 2013 – we did our first ever photo shoot here with Emma and she is now so super popular for weddings, if you want to book Emma, you’d better get in early! Deborah of Dartmoor Flowers has a hand-picked, garden style that works beautifully with the venue as you can see from this gorgeous pic of Cady’s wedding bouquet with the most perfect peonies and heavenly scented roses. Our Eco-Luxe shoot featured on Coco Wedding Venues…

A lovely reminder of our Spring Eco-Luxe shoot captured by the lovely Emma of Freckle Photography featured this week by another lovely Emma, this time of Coco Wedding Venues. With beautiful English grown flowers supplied and arranged by the talented Claire of The Flower Field, THE most fab updo by the great team at The Hair Lounge Tavistock, gorgeous make up by Bridgette from Wedding Hair and MakeUp, delicious cakes by Marianne of Dazzlicious Cakes with Katharine Hannah and her younger sister as models and Tally our neighbour’s horse managed beautifully on the day by her young owner Leonie. Are you going naked…?

…I mean cake-wise of course… Wedding cakes without the traditional icing and accompanying sugar craft decorations have come to be known as ‘naked cakes’ and they’ve come a long way. Naked cakes used to be just cakes without icing, something pared down and ‘au naturel’ but they’ve recently taken on a life of their own and can look just as elaborate as the most equisitely iced cake and I’m a big fan. Check out my Pinterest board devoted entirely to the naked cake! Follow Ever After’s board naked wedding cakes on Pinterest. Recent trends have been decorating with flowers, fruit and even a dusting of icing sugar. It can fit with almost any look, theme and feel to a wedding and works particularly well for garden, outdoor and summer weddings.
